I came across this site , it sounds interesting if they have a kit to fit the max and TRULY convert the damping rod into cartridge damping.

I did call and talked with Dan, they haven't done it for a max but are doing it for gold wing and R1 bikes, the price is kinda high $1200 vs race tech but they will install a top cap with some rebound adjustment.if someone lives close to them and has experience with forks that will be very helpful to check them out and actually see the product they will use on the max.

Oddly enough I live about 20-30 miles away from them. However, I know jack-shit about forks and don't have the $$ to invest in it right at the moment as I'm trying to do an engine swap in one car and fix some ignition issues in another car.
