Figured I may as well start a thread with some of our paint schemes. Check out this latest one. I've included a before, during and almost after set. Still a lot to do before we are done.

Looks cool... I need to figure out a paint job that shows off the louvers in my tank cover.

I'm wanting a Lambo orange/Black combo I think

Don't recall the brand but it seems to work well. It's a nearly exact match to the flat paint on the newer vmax frames, engines and other parts.

There is a lot of it going on this bike. Look for a copper bike soon with lots of satin and black chrome!

I like it!, Back in the late 80's hot rod or a similar rag had a picture of a rodded truck I think is was a '68 c10 GMC that was painted to match Cheeze whiz. my old roomate Rob wants to paint that color somthing fierce.

My bikes have always been Black, Blue, or Red.

What kind of times are you getting out of that CB?

I like the flat black and green too.

I like the muscle car look too which is why I went with the racing stripes on mine. :thumbs up: I know it kind of copies the 2003 or what ever year that was but mine IS different and not stickers plus I REALLY liked the stripes when I first saw them...

I think the blue bike needs a seat Sean... :whistlin:

Load it up to a host like Photobucket and it will be automatically resized and then you can link to the picture here.

or if you want to upload it, go get Microsoft's image resizer from their power toys line-up.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
After it's installed, all you have to do is right click on the picture and choose resize pictures.

Thanks to all for resizing help - we'll see if this works. These stripes glow from a camera flash or car headlights , but they just look bright white normally. Don't know if I'll keep it this way , but easy enough to peel off if I get tired of it.

I like the reflective look! It doesn't look like you took the stripes onto the rear fender though, did you think of trying that? I would try that if I could match the stock stripes.

Hadn't thought of striping rear fender, but maybe that's a good idea. I have lots of striping around & I'm thinking of painting it on this summer. Best to experiment with the tape first - if I do it I'll post pics.

Here's one I finally got a chance to get pics of! Black Chrome with Burgundy Paint. Everything painted, coated, or chromed. It's a 1985 to boot! 2005 Engine. Modified Holeshot exhaust with our custom mufflers. Jet Kit, solid mounts, etc.. We built this bike from the frame up. Only a couple of simple cosmetic touches and one electrical glitch is left (fuel pump will only work with it in the reserve setting and low fuel light doesn't work - already removed and checked the sending unit looking for a broken wire).

We are swapping the reworked Corbin (may be sold already but not sure yet) for a reworked stock seat (already done - lol). Also, will be lowering the bike 1" in the front, 1.5" lower shocks in the rear, and putting on a modifed kickstand. Still have a couple of other misc details but not much.

We'll have it with us when we come to Topeka in a few months too. Bike made 127rwhp last year. Don't expect any rear gain on that but we will see. This is brad's old bike (now the father-in-laws) and has the huge mufflers on it. Man, they still sound good.

I need to get a sound clip of those and the alcohol dragbikes Kerker (We did fire it up yesterday too).

Let me know what you find out about the electrical glitch. This is exactly what is happening to my bike. this only started happening after I had the sender unit resoldered. Fixed the wire and this is what happened. Would love to know where to go next.

Anyone here with some photoshop skills? My fiances 2002 ZX9R needs some help deciding what to do to finish the paint job. We are thinking something with maybe silver and purple.

Crap pics but maybe you can take another off the web (bikepics.com is a good place) and chop it.

Are you saying you want to see the bike in silver or purple or with silver and purple added to the base colour?

one2dmax
08-21-2009, 06:55 AM
Add to the base color. There is just too much of it. I'm thinking some kind of striping or pattern in purple with the silver like a wide pinstripe to separate the colors.

I have a local shop that does the paint for me. The owner does any ding repair and then the painter is about 18 years old. Does a very nice job for sure. The stripes he said were a challange to get perfectly centered but I think he's going to like it!

The blue is very pretty in the sunlight.

Would love to do this in other colors. I had a request about orange with a black type stripe similar to the green and I think it would look awesome that way. We'll see if we end up doing it.

just for future info for potential customers. A paint job like the blue with stripes of the green with stripe will run $500 exchanged or on your parts. Single color paint jobs are a bit less at $400.

Body set shipped yesterday along with centerstand (not sure if they went in same box). The seat will be a little longer (than I expected).

Sean

09-02-2009, 12:02 PM
okie dokie.

I am gonna see if some of the local vmaxers here can help with the body and wheel removal once I get the center stand on...

get all the body on (perfect time to install the superbrace too)

one2dmax
09-02-2009, 12:14 PM
The body is fairly straight forward. You will need to remove the front wheel (or at least lower it down) to get access to the bolts holding the fender to the fork brace. The early model forks actually let you remove the whole fender/brace assembly by sliding it out the back but that doesn't work on the bigger forks like yours.

This paint set (green with black stipes) is now available for sale (on exchange). Includes the side covers (on exchange too). Looking at $400 with shipping to you. Paint should still be in pretty decent shape. Going to do a different green for this customer.

See the pics on the first post and then more pics of the same bike on our website. Email me if interested!
