So I bought a new set of brushes to rebuild my 4-brush starter. I have it apart and am trying to get it back together. Is there a trick to get all 4 brushes held in their spring loaded holders and getting the armature slid in past them? Do I need a few more people's hands to accomplish this? Or...
If I read the repair manual correctly, the cooling system "drain" check valve (below the radiator) is supposed to be in the "OFF" setting while driving around? This has the valve in the closed position. I would think the valve should be "ON" in the OPEN position for full "flow". Book says to...
The friction plates have one semi circle (notch) on one side and a double on the other side. I assume they line up together but do they need to fit to the clutch basket in a certain orientation?

Picked up the pipes today. They look good. Even before I clean them up before the install. Thanks once again Finalquotes for helping me out! Let me know if you plan to go to Rice-O-Rama in Sept. I'll buy you a beer.
Thanks for your generous offer Finalquotes! I'll stop by this Sunday to pick them up. $30 donation to the forum has been made. A good deal all around!! I appreciate the offer Poolio. Unless something unforeseen happens with the Finalquotes deal, I should be all set but thanks again for the...
Yeah, I did the 90 deg pick thing. Didn't seem stout enough for the job. Like I said, they're baked in there pretty good. I'll take another shot at it next time I get back in the garage. Thanks for the tips guys.
So I have my 78,000 mile OEM exhaust pipes off my Gen 1 and need to get the crush washers off before putting on replacement pipes. Is there a particular trick to getting them out of the ports? Trying to not go too gorilla on them but they ARE IN THERE! Don't want to mar up any mating surfaces...
