Finally got around to it, it was the stupid postive battery terminal, I replaced the battery a few months ago so I guess it wiggled a little loose, not much. Thanks guys!! Maybe one day i'll be cool enough to help others solve their motorcyce issue, instead of just asking for help all the time...

Can I bypass the kill switch temporarily? I tried disconnecting the negative terminal again, but it didn't do anything this time. Main fuse is still good

Looks I should just go with the newer/used air filter box, and just remove the Y. And throw in some 145 jets while I'm at it. I'm assuming an air filter box out of 97 will fit fine in my 86, or pretty much any year for that matter right?

I just lowered the jetting to 147.5 from stock, in case I wanna run down to Vegas and do a few runs at the track. You think 145s would still be ok, assuming I get individual filters, vegas is 2000ft elevation.

Does everyone agree that the individual filters make the bike run like crap? Assuming I have a full exhaust and proper jetting? I'm at 5000 ft elevation btw. The air boots between the air box and carbs are like plastic on my 86vmax, so i'm about to buy either a new/used airbox with good rubber...
