I'd like to add a request for more pics of this step by step, including obvious details like what lead ends to use etc. I'm a total newb, and it would be very helpful. Thanks!
I've got a weird set of intermittent issues with my Gen 1. It has a 1500 Tourmaster and flat side carbs fitted which may be contributing. However, the battery seems to drain significantly if I don't start it for a week or so. Is this normal?
On top of that, it has become difficult to start when...
Thanks! That's an option if I can't find anything here - and here it's going to be dearer for sure. We are price gouged on everything. One site has it for AUD$635 o_O
So... my elderly Dad backed into my bike and scratched the front fender. Could have been worse, and I'm cursing myself for parking in the driveway instead of my normal place. That aside, does anyone know of a product that can be used to repair some of the damage? The scratch is reasonably deep...
Ordered from the USA. They arrived today with self-adhesive tape on the back pre-applied, and are curved to fit the right spot on tank. 5 minute job if you include the careful Googling to check the exact right location (or close enough to it not to matter).
This sounds like a good idea until someone really wants to steal your ride, and takes you're finger off to do it (happened in Malaysia). There are other ways around biometrics too, apparently. Still, I'd rather not tempt fate myself.
My 1988/2003 Max has a Venture undercut transmission from 2006 (brand new though), and the longer gears at the top seem to work against this. First and second are the same as a stock VMax, but the gears get longer as they go up and the final two are true OD apparently. I don't know if the big...
The original body work was black with silver stripes (2003) and I sold that with the emblems attached. The carbon fibre replacements are factory, but came without emblems. I didn't do the work, it was done by the guy who built the bike - the owner before me. I think he liked the bare look, but...
Oh, that would be great if they came set up ready to go. Good call. I'll wait and see what the case is (they are still on back order apparently, and cost me almost as much ship from the US as they cost to buy). I suspect they're going to be bare though.
I'm about to attach the Yamaha tuning fork stock tank emblems to my VMax (the replacement factory carbon fibre tank used in the rebuild came without emblems), and wanted to know if others had done it and knew of the best way to do so.
I've read something like this is the way to go...
Thanks guys I've gone for the simple solution - two 12mm metal toggle switches, both covered with water resistant screw on covers. They're inelegant and just very slightly hacky and steampunk, but kind of suit the almost-stock look of my bike.
My VMax has two toggle switches fitted in the plastic fascia on either side of the steering column - just in front of the intakes. One is on-off-on (for grip warmers), and the other is on-off (for a secondary cooling fan). They don't match, and the grip warmer switch is not very good quality...
