Ya, i ran at 5800 feet .... so i worked my way down from there with my 1500 LR upgrade...my best time at Bandimere was a 10.27 @ 133 .....i went to sea level twice, one of the times , i ran a 10.1 twice around 135 MPH ..... Spent a decade trying to figure out why my trap speeds were so low...

Well thats a little far fetched IMHO .... First off a 10.8 on a stock vmax is almost impossible .... if you saw a 10.8 out of him , then it probably wasnt stock .... there are calculators , even if he was a small racer say 150 pounds , which PeeWee Gleason was a buck thirty thats roughly 830 lbs...

btw, with my stock vmax, i ran 12.20's .... when i went to chaindrive , i dropped to 11.90's .... gives you an idea what rwhp vs crank can do as that puts more HP at the rear wheel .... also there is some weight loss and they say 30 lbs is 1/10th of a second in ET

Exactly .... Crank is 145 rwhp on vmax is ~100 - 110....

btw, i meant to say i ran a 10.1 at 136 in Wichita....it should have been close to 145 ....

Well he is a legend today but when he first started out , there were already 20 year legends lurking in the VMOA , i'm sure Sean will attest to this.... Is awesome that he has become the expert ... John Gainey is the ultimate legend IMHO but is an idiot savant and calling him yesterday proves...

Hey was that nitrous i see on the side there in a pic ? pretty sure it is ....i cut a hole in my seat and hid the bottle under the back passenger seat .... :) i dropped about 1/2 second off my times when i was running at 1200 CC ..... its serious stuff but i was young and had no idea how to...

1260 , isthat a long rod ? My buddy back in the day upgraded to 1260 .... Didnt notice a bump at the track so went to 1428 ..... I followed him and did a 1500 ...Phil

Considering diving in and fixing it myself .... I have just been lazy ... Vmax is a pain in the ass ..... Every time i split the cases i have bolts break .... Its an 85' ...i worry about that more than anything .... Also the timing mark on the crankshshaft is literally up to your imagination...

Is John Gainey still running the show there ?

Where do you buy parts generally speaking for the 85 Vmax ? Recommendations ? I need the scoop screws..

Hey Guys , hope some of you remember ole Vmax735 aka Colorado Phil .... I'm still hanging on to my Vmax but its not running...I have the 1500 long rod and it was built by PCW ...I think ole Gainey Shut it down .... Trying to find someone who can get it up and running ... who is the expert nowadays ?
