Would you buy this? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I'm nobody here, but to me that alters every premise a Vmax was founded on. Buy a bagger of another brand instead and sell it to someone who will put it back to what a Vmax was intended to be. A fierce looking hot rod cruiser.

They make about a million different shades of nail polish. I was able to find a shade that was really close for touching up chips on the bike. Not my nails. I swear.😁

Low voltage running on 3 cylinders

Yes, If you have any cylinders misfiring it may be the first and easiest thing to check. The bike cranked rather slowly but started right up, but wouldn't run properly at all. Until I charged the battery.

Low voltage running on 3 cylinders

Hey thank you MM for a prompt response! I'll look through and follow the documents to hopefully get the output voltage where it needs to be. 👍

Low voltage running on 3 cylinders

Yep I have already redone the crimp fix which was already done by by the previous owner. I'll run through all the other procedures in this info as well. I don't know that I have ever seen or identified on any vehicle in 50 years of owning and maintaining stuff, low system or low battery voltage...

Low voltage running on 3 cylinders

Hey thanks FM. I'll go thru it step by step when I see his instruction sheet. Do the stator or pickup go bad frequently? 35k miles.

Low voltage running on 3 cylinders

Hey everyone, I searched some threads here couldn't find anything on this topic. Vmax 1200 1988. I rebuilt the carbs with the K&L parts you guys suggested. I synced the carbs and it ran like a rocket ship. Yay! Put it up for a month. Then I started on a new different project bike. Next time I...

    Carb kits questions

Thank you for your response. I'll inquire with supplier as to the packaging before buying. That's about 8 hours of wasted time pulling them and rebuilding them that I'll never get back. I thought I was doing good running redline fuel system cleaner through the machine but I think it just knocked...

    Carb kits questions

I installed most of the o rings and gaskets from the cheapo ebay kit. The one whose float needle rubbers immediately failed. So I've got about just as much confidence in the bowl gaskets, O rings etc. as in the float needles. Some of the parts weren't near the same as what was originally in the...

    Carb kits questions

Ok thanks man, I'll probably get the abbreviated K&L kits x 4 coming my way. I'll indentify if the jets etc. are original and then just see the yamaha dealer for the others if necessary. I wanted to get the parts coming so when I get back to Michigan I can get it done fairly quickly and go.🏍 👍

    Carb kits questions

Hello. Here's a question. My 88 needs the carbs cleaned and rebuilt due to a severely rusty fuel tank and the carbs being full of rust. I took care of the tank and sealed it with good result. But the cheap carb rebuild kit off i bought off ebay was terrible. The float needles rubbers...

    Backrest

I bought a Hac 8811. Built very solidly expressly for a 1200 vmax. Comes with all the mounting hardware. It matches the backstrap on the seat exactly. Installed fairly easily. $300.00 including shipping from Custom Cruisers in the U.K. (Very nice people to deal with). It arrived in about 5 days...

That's wild. My first bike was a 73 MX 360 in 1975. Silver with a red stripe. Bought in South Bend Indiana. A lot to handle for a skinny kid. Wish I still had it. I should have checked those stator wires when I had the drive cover off. I'll go back in and go through it, thanks. I did clean up...

I live SW Mi. by Niles, about 30 minutes from the big lake. Where did you live around here? I don't have the bike apart at the moment but that crimp looks like it's on the load side of the main fuse? Reaching it from under the seat. So soldering that eh? I know I've had little electrical...

Wow, thanks you're a wealth of knowledge! When I do the carbs I'll get a rebuild kit with the standard original spec jets, etc. And throw the stock exhaust system back on. Pretty easy job on the pipes I think. Yes, I put in some redline fuel system cleaner and Poof! the fuel filter immediately...

Thanks for writing. I believe the cases are highly buffed then clear coated. I did also receive the original exhaust system with the bike. I like the looks of the cobras but had no idea they might hinder performance. I'm kind of learning on the fly here, and appreciate the input. Carburetors are...
