NEED TIPS ON proper placement of faux tank logos

I'm having my tank cover repainted and want to ensure proper placement of the Yamaha logos. Here, they are improperly positioned; in addition to being rotated too far forward, they also appear to be placed too far back. If the middle "tuning fork" should be straight up and down (like 6 o'clock)...

ISO 1985 Deep Amethyst color code

Hello, I'm wrapping up the year-long restoration of my 1985 1200 in original Dark Amethyst. I've come a long way with this bike; at first, I really didn't like the color and considered switching to Deep Scarlet. I figured the pinstripes killed the originality anyway. I also bought a set of...

What grips will work on 1st Gen?

Hello, I searched past threads for grips recommendations for 1st Gen, 1985 in particular. I saw many mentions of Kuryakyn, but I couldn't locate any that were specifically longer on the "throttle" side. Any recommendations? OEM is hard to find. Thanks.

I posted a question in the 1st Gen forum about the original Dark Amethyst paint, and whether to keep it or repaint in Deep Scarlet (like 95% of the...

Restoring '85 VMax in Dark Amethyst -- keep or change to Deep Scarlet paint?

Good morning, I'm brand new to the group -- thanks for the add. I have a restored '86 Fazer, and finally got its bigger brother, an '85 VMax. My goal with the Max is to restore it to original condition, sell it to another collector, and then get a '93 or newer with its updated features. I'd be...
