i WHY IS THE TORQUE OF THE OIL DRAIN BOLT SO HIGH ON THE V-MAX , ( 31 LBS. ) ? ... IT JUST SEAMS QUIT A BIT EXCESSIVE TO ME ! ...I GET SCARED EVERY TIME I TIGHTEN IT ! :confused2:
 
Actually, if you do it to metric specs, 43 newton-meters! Yes, Tim is correct.
 
The drain plug has a torque spec?
Yes it does.
WHY IS THE TORQUE OF THE OIL DRAIN BOLT SO HIGH ON THE V-MAX , ( 31 LBS. ) ?
I'm sure because of heat expansion and cooler retraction, it has to tightened to a specific level.
You DON'T want to be riding and that boy falls out, killing your engine and yourself, by fish tailing all over the highway on an oil slick.
