Ended up buying both radiator cap and fan switch from advance auto.

Just replacing the cap made a huge improvement. Going to replace my fan switch tonight and report back any improvements. However, I have been running with the fan always on and I still get very close to red line even with the new cap and new thermostat.

Should I look into getting a better fan?

If your not moving in traffic. ...it will run close to red. Once your moving for 5 mins. ....that's when the temp drops.

If the fan is on all the time & you put the thermostat in that I told you about it shouldn't even get up to half way. At this point there's something else going on there.

I have a bit of oil in my coolant. Could that be an indication of some bigger problem?

Finally got everything working pretty good. Replaced the thermostat, fan switch, radiator cap, o-rings. The bike doesn't overheat anymore. The engine also seems to be working fine. Thanks for the help!

Great news- like i said when mine ran hot (mostly due to 4 months of 110+ degrees)
The larger core radiator keeps my temp at halfway mark.

I will keep this radiator bookmarked for next year. Summer is almost over and I don't think I'll be having overheating issues for a while. Thanks for the help
