Turn Signal Trouble

1985. Having trouble getting turn signals to flash. Replaced relay, checked voltage and ground in all connections. Signals come on, but relay makes crackling/buzzing type sound. Is the next step to check the reed switch? My manual says it is in the headlight assembly. This is my first VMAX, so any guidance would be appreciated.

I take it you've already tried a new flasher unit?

Yes, replaced flasher unit. The signals are LED's and I read I need to add a resistor?

You may need to fit a resistor like http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorcycle/indicators/bike-it-led-indicator-resistor
I'm fitting some to the rear of my bike and have e-mailed the seller to find out .

You will need to add a resistor to each turn signal
