Since our apprentice had his Vmax stolen recently I decided to upgrade some of my defenses.
I have used a tracker before but it wasn't always 100% reliable.

These new units here.. http://www.iconcox.com/products/189.html
I obtained directly from the manufacturer and it works really well.

It's all hooked up under the seat with a relay off to the fuel pump.
One of the features is a simple SMS to tell it to kill the power to the pump and kill the bike. It works a treat.
Only took about an hour to install, next one will be even easier.

I'll post up a video later.

I read something years ago about modding a cell phone with the GPS tracker and install it in a hidden part of a car to do the same thing. Not sure of the details but back then it was cheaper to do that then to purchase an actual tracker. The one posted is very cool and I will be looking into the same thing. Just wish they could get it much smaller so it could be hidden or tucked in to look like an integral part of the bike. One spot Im thinking is up front near the front two coils

Easy enough to add a $10-15 dollar a month phone to a plan. With Apples "find my phone" feature it can be pulled right up with reasonable accuracy. Hard wire it in a weather proof box to the bike; presto! Poor mans LoJack

With the added benefit that you can
look for it yourself, can't do that with LoJack since they don't want the liability of creating a violent confrontation.

Here's a clip of the SMS command to fuel pump, it doesn't have to be fuel pump, it could be anything else to kill it.
It can be armed in this position anytime, meaning it couldn't be started in the first place until "unarmed".
Only added SOS numbers can operate it.
Check location anytime by SMS eg. Google maps.
Armed alert if vibration detection whilst off (parked) > send alert by SMS.
Cable cut alert if power is cut to the unit.
If the bike moves out of location for say 300 meters (settable) all SOS numbers will receive alarm messages.
There are other features as well.
Cost of the unit was $35 usd and only the cost of SIM card to maintain.

Does SIM Card basically mean going to cell provider and adding a plan/phone but only purchasing the card without a phone?
Forgive my ignorance..

I'm REALLY intrigued by this or one of their other products as a teen driver car tracking and shutdown device but their website doesn't tell you much.

I'm sure the situation in the US is the same here.. you can purchase a SIM card to suit your telco provider of your choice. Put it in a phone or GPS device or whatever. That can be set up on a plan or pre-paid credit as what I do . We have special deals all the time as in unlimited texts or so much data etc for so long.
We have deals also for "best friend" eg, you can communicate to your chosen best friend for almost unlimited texts for example. If the GPS is coupled back to your mobile phone in this situation you will not burn up credit.

The unit I have would work in your situation, tracking and shutting down.

Concox have a website on Alibaba with some info there.

I have seen also some Concox branded products on Ebay and alike but always wary of the fact that many of these items are knockoffs and probably don't work as well. That's why I went directly to the manufacturer.
