How many ohm's shoud a pickup coil have on a vmax? When testing


Answer: 110 Ohms plus or minus 15 percent at 68 degrees Fahrenheit.


FYI:
Primary ignition coils are 2.7 Ohms plus or minus 10 percent at the above temp.
Secondary ignition coils are 13.2 Ohms plus or minus 20 percent at 68 degrees.
 
Thank you very much having fleeing issus changed out starter clutch did not take main gear plate off smashed stator wires between cases did not see them my bad now no fire.seen last night were I posted said I could had got coil wires to no visible sign of been smashed but need to ck ohms on coil. I am new at this vboost site so I am trying to learn were to post.also eye sight not that good had stroke lost right eye left eye just getting adjusted. Happen last month working on bike had two eyes now working on bike with one eye. Just wounding how riding with one eye going to be . thanks for all halls information merry Christmas happy new yr.brentmax

Best to download the free service manual. It sounds like a wire repair is all you need. No problems posting. Best of luck going forward, riding repairing, health wise.

I would not ride a motorcycle with monocular vision. Especially on a high performance machine like the VMAX. Maybe a trike or Can-Am Spyder....Plus with all the distracted driving from texting these days, I've even cut way back on recreational riding.

I did have a friend (Dennis "Doc" Krenzel) that lost his right eye from a garage door spring repair attempt and he still rode his FLH with no perceived problems, but he was in his 30's and had been riding since his teens. We paired up on many motorcycle trips up Highway 33 (lots of curves) and the Los Padres National Forest.

He was killed in on his bike when someone intoxicated pulled out of a strip club parking lot without looking.
