Read through threads relating to the Gen1 tachometer and identified possible problems. Recognise the standard location leaves something to be desired, but not the problem at present, and it works, so believe connections are good.
However, on one of those very rare occasions I might have ventured near 6K and VBooost, the tacho was then reluctant to drop below 5K despite reducing speed and having no need to drop out of 5th. Absolutely no signs of clutch slip at the time, or since.
Eventually a mile or two down the road, when slowing for a junction, the tacho reading was as normal and remained so even when around 5K. Suggestions as to possible cause appreciated.
In every other sense Max still hauls us and our sidecar along admirably.
