I have looked through the forum and found it difficult to search and consolidate the postings on 'Engine Noise'. Maybe this should have its own thread?
Anyway, my 1988 V-max has 129,000kms on it and has been running like a clock until this weekend.
Went away this weekend and when the bike was warm and in low rpm's I heard a whirring (high pitched but not loud) sound from the left side of the motor. I can't figure out whether it's in the gen-set case or the top of the motor.
I'm worried because it sounds like a metal on metal contact and I'm thinking lubrication failure....but then it goes away. Intermittent but most definitely at lower rpms.
This happened several times under pretty much the same conditions.
The bike still rips when the throttle is open.
Any clues form the oracles?
