I'm starting a project to bild a Drag Race only gen II Vmax.
For the first season the bike will stay as a normally aspirated.

I Would need a lot of your help while I'm still a rookie with VMax.
(A serious turbo builder of another V bike)

Bomber Magazine is following the project. Have a look, there is couple of VMax articles in the first english issue.
http://www.worldwidebombermagazine.com/

1.) what is the best 1/4 mile time of bone stock?

2.) what is the best 1/4 mile time of normally aspirated w/o NOS?

3.) what is the best 1/4 mile time with NOS?

4.) what is the lowest known weight?

My bone stock undriven unit weights 304kg, 152kg front and 152kg rear.
A target is around 260kg.

I will sell all the parts I'm removing from the new bike.

Thanks

Wow....good for you, that sounds like a lot of fun!

As far a 1/4 mile times there are "normal" 1/4 mile times.....and then ones turned in by the legendary Jay (Pee Wee) Gleason. He has all of the fastest recorded times that I know of.

1.) what is the best 1/4 mile time of bone stock? In the magazines the best time run bone stock was 10.11 @137 MPH. Jay did run a 9.91 with a bone stock VMax (you can see that below) but you will notice that there was a slick on the bike. A friend of mine also ran a 9.97 with a totally stock bike except for the Yamaha race ECU.

2.) what is the best 1/4 mile time of normally aspirated w/o NOS? The best I know of was again Jay with a 9.39 @146 MPH, you can see that below My friend ran a 9.43 @144. Jay has never had the opportunity to make a pass on a "fully" prepped (all the bolt on's) in decent conditions. My guess is he would be close to the 9.2's if he did.

3.) what is the best 1/4 mile time with NOS? Only heard of one person using NOS and his times were not good.

4.) what is the lowest known weight? The lowest "documented" weight I've heard was 650#'s that would be with BST CF wheels and a Brocks exhaust. If you throw a Shorai or equivalent battery in there you'd be under 650.

To manage some decent 60' times you are going to need the ECU re-flashed. From the factory there is a bog when launching that is pretty much impossible to overcome. That is because the ECU restricts the throttle openings below a certain speed.

There is a lot of Gen 2 information here: http://www.starvmax.com/

Can't wait to see your results! Best of luck.

Thank You for the good info.

I'm going to use KMS MD35 ECU
http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/products/ecus/md35/

By now I have bought for the project
- Akrapovic titanium collector
- Wide rear rim
- 240/40 tire
- Boulevard windscreen

Will buy Shorai lithium, I have it in my other bike

Is there some light weight brake rotors and -pads available?
Are Yamaha carbon wibre parts real and lighter, or just fakes?

650 is a lot!

You are welcome.

Yes, 650lbs. IS a lot!

I know there are CF disks sold....I don't remember the manufacturer however. The VMax brakes are the same as the R1 brakes so that's what you should be looking for.

The Carbon Fiber parts from Yamaha are true CF....but they are no longer making them. They are available from this company though http://www.flinkcarbon.com/ and at a much better price. Not a huge weight savings though, the stock factory parts are pretty light.

run a single rotor on the front. get a chrome moly chassis. get rid of the stock front forks. get rid of the shaft drive.

I too have some plans to do a turbo or supercharged setup but need to sell off all my current dragbike stuff first.

Did get KMS MD35 ECU and wirings.
Fuel will be E85. Somebody else using the same combo?

Haven't had time to split the bike by now.

Yes he has on several occasions. He also says there is a tad more in her as well.... But alas... he sold the bike....

Yeah, wildbros with thier gen1 efi.

YUP, and it sucked. hope your a rocket scientist to program the system, although if your just drag racing it you don't need to worry about daily ridding but still not easy OR fun. besides why run that ecu when the bike is already EFI and Tim has figured a few options for the stock ECU?

If you are reffering Jim's regular efi then yes, non closed loop system sucks while you are on the road. Megasquirt 3 gives much better results for a quantum of kms price.

Not sure why HE have chosen KMS..maybe he didnt know 2gen ecu is fully tunable?

Maybe I dont know all the details of stock ECU and how it is programmable and logable by myself. I want to go to E85 now and later to forced induction. Btw I have a stock ECU and another unopened stock ECU packet with all the locks and keys for sale.

Could you send me a PM with how much you're asking for them?

Thanks,

Did start the project today.
Bone stock undriven unit. 304kg / 200hp.

Did weight catalysator and Akrapovic titanium collector.
Quite big diffrence, 9.0kg vs 0.5kg!

Hi
Do you mind taking several pictures from several angles of the rear shock setup? I'd like to check something. My email is wildweasel_pt @ hotmail.com
Thank you
