It's that time again. As always we plan on having a good showing of Vmax's at this event. Anyone wanting to drive down and have some fun are more then welcome. I am sure we might even be able to find some room at the house for you to stay.

Event is Aug 21st/22nd (sat/sun). Link to the event flyer here:

Well, times sucked but might as well post them. First the good news. I did end up winning the bracket 2 class and my buddies wife got 3rd on her Fazer in bracket 3. Lost in the second round in bracket 1 class (most bikes have wheelie bars, slicks, and airshifters here not counting the delay boxes and misc).

Temps were 98-100 most of the day and Sat had humidity somewhere between 60-80 percent in the morning (and into the afternoon). Sat was really bad for traction though the first run wasn't bad. Sun was better but the Fazer couldn't hook up at all. I will be posting some vids and you'll see where the Max starting grabbing in a few of them and was bringing the front end up.

Bike Info:
1999 Vmax. Base 1300 Engine (a little on the weak side but still a clean runner). 4-1 hindle with 2.25" outlet (they made a big pipe version too but this is the normal one). Muscle Jet kit. Last dyno was 121hp and mid 80's torque. Stock tires - 150-90 Bridgestone that was mostly used up (all used up now). Stock gearing. Rider 220 lbs plus all the gear. Did not strap the front end this year. It is 1" lowered internally and Racetech parts (really doesn't make any difference). Venture clutch plate (like Barnett) with HD springs.

Slips in order as they were run. This is "Pro tree" so all 3 yellows at once then green.

Run, 1/4 et - 1/4 spd, 1/8th et - 1/8th spd, 60' et - reaction time (opponent r/t) - Notes

Sat
16, 11.69 - 114.30, 7.42 - 94.36, 1.68 - .1192 (.2759) - Best 60' time
101, 11.93 - 113.93, 7.67 - 94.28, 1.93 - .1007 (.4035) - tire spin
125, 12.87 - 83.64, 7.94 - 90.43, 1.83 - .0678 (.1369) - Best R/T but missed second
178, 11.54 - 117.34, 7.40 - 96.65, 1.80 - .1477 (.1576)
183, 11.53 - 118.05, 7.38 - 96.32, 1.75 - .1196 (.4719) - Best run of the day

Sun
20, 11.88 - 115.98, 7.64 - 92.98, 1.71 - .1062 (.0925) - decent launch
67, 11.37 - 118.76, 7.26 - 96.73, 1.73 - .1403 (.0431) - 2nd Best run of the weekend. Had a 11.30 pass but can't find the slip.

Eliminations (last 2 runs - dial 11.51)
209, 11.74 - 108.74, 7.44 - 97.11, 1.84 - .1010 (.4304) - hit brakes to prevent breakout
217, 11.66 - 109.94, 7.34 - 93.19, 1.78 - .1432 (.0190) - He had me on reaction time but his bike wasn't pulling well for him I would guess. I caught him by mid track (he dialed a 12.25 and had a bar/slick setup) and then just stayed just out front of him.

I'm missing some slips but that at least gives you an idea how it went for us. The other 3 vmax's ran similar times (I think Kevins best was low 11.40's and Chris's vmax was 11.50's - both have 3" over arms and 18" radial tires - and lighter guys). Erin's vmax (Chris's wife) ran mid 12's most of the day.

2nd bike: 1986 Fazer, FZR1000 engine (1029cc), 8" over arm, air shifter, lockup clutch, Nitrous (not used this weekend), 41mm Flatslide carbs, FZR600 suspension. 133 rwhp (before nitrous).

Sun
32, 11.74 - 118.80, 7.64 - 95.06, 1.94 - .239 (.3689) - tire spin - no air
51, 11.37 - 118.73, 7.31 - 99.32, 1.86 - .1245 (.2244) - tire spin - air shifter working
145, 11.19 - 119.94, 7.19 - 101.47, 1.86 - .1318 (.2539) - tire spin - airshifter working (throttle grip reglued into place)

Elimination Round (2nd one) - 11.45 dial in
164, 11.25 - 104.07, .7.14 - 101.33, 1.82 - .1383 (.2464) - hit brakes hard and still broke out. Probably an 11.00 pass and maybe 10's - dang it.

So, As I look over the numbers I see I am a fat sob and that the kid that normally runs the Fazer is easily 1/2 second faster on the same bike (10.70's on street tire - 10.20's on slicks). BUT, I had better reaction times then almost all of my opponents. That helped me win most of my runs.

The temp and track prep also made a huge difference. The wind was also with us the second day (10mph) vs against us (10mph) like it was Sat.

Will post pics and vids soon.
