would xjr 400 rear ohlins shocks be ok for max 1200, i know there 20mm shorter, thinking about weight any thoughts please.

What does the bike weight they are being removed from? The angle of connection for leverage calculations? Odd's are they are going to be a bit soft and will likely need to be resprung. An Ohlins dealer should be able to get you squared away but may need to know what spring is on them currently.
