    I went and did it

Just picked up a basket case-ish 89 that's going to need a bunch of attention. Good price and I'm at a point in my life where this sort of project suits me. So I'm sure I'll be doing plenty of shopping and other homework. Looking forward to the journey.

1989 VMax Las Vegas $2000 and 8K miles claimed

Not mine, no one I know. https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/mcy/d/yamaha-vmax1200/6720823820.html I call "b.s.' on the "never laid-down" claim, look-at the right scoop and the front of the right exhaust canister. Doesn't look-like strawberry jelly to me, there. :rofl_200: Then-again, perhaps...

    1989 air box cover, tank

Hi: I need an 89 or so air box cover with readable emissions decal. Mine is fine, just no decals. I dont care, crushed, or what, I need the epa sticker. If someone has a good one, fine, I will pay what it takes, but the one I have is in good shape. I think any year from about 85 to mid 90's...

    1989 vmax epa sticker location

Hi guys: I just restored an 89 vmax, and took it to Ca DMV to get registered. I had to have the numbers verified, they were good. But there is supposed to be a sticker on it that shows something about whether it is a 49 or 50 state bike, and neither I nor the verifier could find one...

    upgrading 1989 with 1997 motor

Hi guys, first post here. Here is the deal, I got a 89 that turned out to have motor siezed, and sat for long time. I cleaned carbs, got it running, and it had horrible noise in it, sort of like major piston slap. When I rode it, it was just too much noise louder on acceleration, same on...

1989 VMAX carb fouling and rebuild.

I did this write up so that if I ever need to do again, it’ll be available. My 1989 VMAX wouldn’t run anywhere near idle without choke starter. After several partial clean attempts, I gave up, totally removed carburetors, and rebuilt. This is a summary of parts of the rebuild that I hope...

    1989 (Canadian) starter choke

My choke has no stop points for Full and Half choke. Spring loaded so I have to manually hold on the choke during cold start. Works well but have to stay with the Bike untill warms up enough to kill choke. Any Ideas. I do not have the correct manual that matches my carb setup.
