Purchased my first vmax yesterday and discovered my rear disc is at the min allowed .28" and the two front are way past the 70 mill allowed to more like 47mill each oddly their both smooth and flat unlike the rear wich has grooves. the p.o gave me GIGANTIC Yamaha vmax service / repair manual...

Ive looked around and cant find anything definite. How long do you soak the fiber discs before installing. Ive heard anything from 30-45 mins, to overnight.

I believe that my 1989 max has a R1 front caliper conversion.If i am wrong can you put me right on what the calipers are off (see pic).I am looking to buy front wavy discs and i cannot seem to find any for that year.Any help locating someone who sells these appreciated.

I just got back from the Yamaha dealer... looks like Cali is cracking down on rejetting. I need to know what mains to use with supertrapp slipons with 18 disks each side. I haven't a clue how to do this. It ticks me off I made an apointment and bought the discs I needed and went all the way down...

Hi. I have supertrapps with 4 discs in each and open end cap. What happends if I add 4 more discs in each supertrapp ? Do the sound change, performance etc ?

Got some EBC discs/pads for the car. Put them on but when I spin the wheel I can hear a contact spot (pad is contacting disc in that one spot..on both rotors). Can the rotor be out of true out of the box or am I missing something? Old rotor pads don't do this.

This may sound like a really stupid question, but hey I'm a novice, so I'll ask anyway... What's the difference between standard brake discs and the wavey discs available? I'm guessing they would grab harder, though thought I'd ask people that actually know.

Does anyone run Performance Machine brakes on the Gen 1? What I am after is... Are the discs, especially on the rear, the same as stock? My rear seems to be slightly warped. May need a replacement. Thanks.

I've been working on the exercise of making my own discs and really preferred a semi-floating setup which is time consuming and involves some expense if I make my own. There are some cheap semi-floating discs sold on ebay that are cheaper than what I could make which will fit later models but...
