So this morning checked both bikes (9 degrees out). The one with 15-40 Rotella I intended to ride cranked fine but the seal in the clutch master blew out. The other max with 20-50 Kendall experienced the whirring and finally rolled over after a few attempts.
Please let me know what kind of offers you end up getting and end up selling for. Paid $1000 for a runner 88 w/ 30k that needed a carb cleaning, parts bike 94 w/40k, and truckload of spare parts a couple months ago and was reluctant to spend that but it was close by in NC. Already put another 4k...
Convinced the wife we needed to go to N.Y. for a mini vacation. "Snuck" my RSV block and Vmax heads in the van and dropped them off at PCW to be built for boost to go towards the venture project.
Hard to tell from the pics looks like the pre 96 oil filter but I thought the same about the exhaust being a 96 thing. Couldn't see a good angle for a helmet lock.
You might need to see what pressure you're getting. The Holley carbs typically like around 7.5 psi 5 minimum. I think the stock pump is around 4psi I think? Maybe you're leaning out a bit due to low level. May need to set the floats a touch higher than recommended due to lean angle on a bike...
I have not looked at the starter yet I'll have to pull that out tomorrow. I believe it's a 2-pole I may have a spare 4-pole in the parts bike. As far as wear parts go are you referring to the rollers that go in the clutch? They look perfect. Practically new. With everything assembled there was...
So about a little over a month ago I went to start up the 89 and got the box of marbles sound while cranking it over. She fired up and at idle had a small crunch or two as well. Killed it and figured the starter clutch may be bad. The bike has pretty low miles <28k but the starter switch stuck...
The $2050/$2040 is a scam. Been posted in the area a few times as well. #s back check to a sketchy phone service directory. I'd say take the bike for a spin be serious. If he wants cash in hand for a test drive start at $2500 and see how it goes. I'm seeing some 97' and later bikes pop up...
Will do. Amassing parts still. Plan was to get the bulk done this winter but work decided to send me to training 4 months ahead of schedule so I'm busy with that. Mostly fab work to do and plan out all the plumbing. Wanted to keep everything as discreet and hidden as possible but it'll be tough.
