    Voltage Regulation?

Are there any tips for replacing the regulator? Does the bracket it's mounted to have to come off first? It doesn't look like there's enough room for a screwdriver without removing something else. Thanks, Neil

    Voltage Regulation?

That's what I figured. I just never heard of one of these notorious under-chargers actually overcharging, but that's what my meter tells me. I've ordered an Odyssey PC680 battery but won't install it until I replace the R/R with a late model unit that I ordered today.

    Voltage Regulation?

Is there a chart of specified voltage output at various RPM? Does anyone here have a Voltmeter gauge mounted? On my last couple of monthly checks, I added distilled water to the battery. Granted it's been darned hot here in Las Vegas this summer. In the past, I have used a multimeter across...

    grips....

I put bar-end mirrors on with my foam grips. I just cut the ends of the grips flush with the handlebars. I'm not a fan of foam grips though. They feel all comfy when you first grab them with bare hands. But when riding, I don't feel like my grip is secure, or I have to squeeze too hard to get a...

Now THIS guy's a die hard biker...

The caption says - right leg missing. The picture shows left leg missing. Am I missing something, or is this "guy" missing both legs?:hmmm:

Who knows how to avoid the CLUNK shift?

This would be shift nirvana. I'm in the quick shift camp on this subject. The slower and more deliberate I shift, the clunkier it is. When I'm on it, accelerating through the shift (using the clutch), it's very smooth and linear, you barely notice the dip in rpm. I'm not skilled enough to do...

    2 Bros. Exhaust

I'm glad mine's not that ugly. It's 4-1, a bit loud but deep and mellow. Stainless steel pipes, aluminum can, center stand is intact.

    Jacket recommendations

You did the right thing by spending time in a store trying things on. I did a lot of online research, then visited a store with a good selection. I ended up getting things that I hadn't heard about, but that met my specifications and were comfortable. Oh yea, everything is one size larger than...

What does your user name mean??

All right, I'll bite. My dad used to haul us out to the desert and mountains looking for indian artifacts and such. He called it boondocking. As soon as I started to drive, me and the friends would go out to the desert and do what teenagers do. Like put the truck in low range, tie the steering...

    I'm a traitor

Whew, I thought it was just me wanting an FJR. I fell for the Max on its looks and reputation. The thing is a blast to ride. When I bought it 8 months ago, I thought I'd be a hobbyist rider, now I just want to ride all the time. Heck I even commute the bike to work just to ride. The practical...

    little bit of gas/exhaust smell

I second the float level. I had a bent float needle causing a problem. You could see gas on top of one of the carbs. Fixed all that, no more gas smell.
