are you installing the filter backward? the filter was designed to fit into the airbox opening after removing the funnel (in other words, you can't properly run our filter with the funnel installed).
the filter was designed to be "self supporting" - the clamp is there in case of a back fire to keep the filter from blowing out. we've been running this setup for almost a year and never have had the filter loosen up.
i just bought another vmax yesterday and put about 100 miles on it. when i got back to the shop i decide to take a quick spin on the b-king and i have to say that back to back (or side by side) these are two totally different bikes. yes, they are the "top dogs" from yamaha & suzuki but other...

if you look close you will see some of the 60+ parts we polished and powdercoated, as well as the upgraded brakes, plate relocator, turn signal mods, etc.
not sure where you get the 30 more ft-lbs of torque? based on the article, the vmax peaks out at 109.7 where the b-king peaks at 97.9 (difference of 11.8). but the weight difference of 122 pounds is signifigant in any test.
