Nice thread! I only think that you should have used the same dyno. Every dyno displays a little differently, your comparison would be more accurate when using the same dyno.

Can an 85 front wheel be used on a 97 Vmax? I not sure, i know things were changed in 93 with the fork diameter and brakes. I am not totally sure to what extent , though. I want to use my stock 97 brake components but was worried the wheel hub may be a different width than the 85.

I was thinking of cutting out the cross sections in the stock front wheel what are your thoughs?? This would be on a modified stock front wheel 18x3.5. Let me know...

Anyone have some pics of a radial tire installed on a stock front rim? I am interested in seeing what it looks like compared to stock.

Price from Kosman for the modification $595. Cost of powdercoating locally $140. I reused the bearings but replaced the seals so i have about $10 in seals. For a total of about $750 + shipping to and from Kosman. Other than that nothing extra but the cost of the tire.

Chris, I got them from Exactrep. Their kinda pricy, but they set the bike off and perform well too. They shipped really fast, 4 days from the UK.

I had to use the washer swap method to gain enough spacing. In doing this I was left with about 1/16" of clearance to the drive side of the swingarm. The wheel was also a lot more challenging to install. I put the bike on the center stand and removed the stock rear wheel. The brake rotor was...

The rubber dampers survived powdercoating! The wheel is now all gloss black and soon I will mount up the tire. I am going to install it within the next week or so. I will post more pics.

IMO I would buy some rubber pieces how much can they cost? 25.00? Remove the ones you have, and have the rim powder coated. I am not worried about the cost of them, its how the heck to get them out? Did you ever remove these before? I guess there is some type of extracting tool needed to...

Do you own or work at a powdercoating facility? If so, about how many wheels have survived powder coating without damage to the rubber dampers? Well, if they are not going to cause a problem I will definitly go with powdercoat. Anyone esle have their wheel powder coated with the rubber dampers...
