    2001 VMAX - Seattle

Sorry, I'm going to keep the bike complete for now. I'm going to bring the bike into my mechanic next week to have the rough idle when hot issue addressed.

    2001 VMAX - Seattle

I have a 2001 VMax that I'll be posting for sale on various sites but thought I'd post here first. The bike runs great with one exception - when sitting in traffic on a hot day the bike warms fast (more than usual) and it begins to idle very rough. Other than that the bike looks great and runs...

    Turn Signal Issues

Thanks all! I got my signals up and running yesterday eve. The black with white is in fact the ground. Rusty, I threw my old blinkers out. I have some stock front calipers and HD444 springs that I can let go for cheap though.

    Turn Signal Issues

Thanks for the feedback. I have a multi-meter, but I'm electrically incompetent. I think I'll try Scott's suggestion and plan on picking up a few extra fuses if need be.... Rusty, I junked 2-3 of the old lollypops as they where either cracked or chipped. I'll let you know what I've got...

    Turn Signal Issues

I finally got around to removing the old lollypop signals, but when I began the install I was baffled by the wire colors on the new ones. I understand the wires coming from the bike (blue = running light, black = ground, brown = left turn signal, green = right turn signal). Unfortunately the...

    Heats Up Quickly

Figured it out. My fan's not coming on at all.

    Preload Spacers

Wow, I didn't know adjustable preload caps existed for the VMAX. PM sent to Sean. Thanks all!

    Preload Spacers

Does anyone know where to get preload spacers? I cut mine too short and currently have 0.00" of preload. I'm sure I can call up Racetech, but they may charge me an arm and a leg. Thanks, Glen

    Heats Up Quickly

Thanks all. I got a little side tracked trying to tune my cartridge emulators yesterday and by the time I busted out the mult-meter I realized I'd be waking up all my neighbors. Unfortunately, I do all of my work in a covered parking garage under my condo building and things get pretty loud...

    Heats Up Quickly

Thanks you all very much for the suggestions. I'm going to run my multi-meter on my VMax when I get home to check out the charging situation. If it's not the charging, could the lean burn be adjusted with the idle mixture screws? I'm fine with most stuff but carburetors still baffle me. -Glen

    Heats Up Quickly

My bike seems to be getting hot quicker than normal. My VMax has always heated up fairly quickly in the past during 75degree+ weather and in stop-and-go traffic, but this morning going into work it was starting to heat up in high 50's stop-and-go traffic. Once it starts to get hot it begins to...

    Tires for 18 inch rims

I've been really happy with my set of Michlin Pilot Road 3's. You can put a matching radial on the front stock rim at 110/80r18. I had my rear wheel welded to 18x5 by Kosman and mounted a 160/60r18 on it. If you were to mount that Shinko you'd probably want a 5.5" wheel.

    Weight Shaving

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks for the info. In addition to radial tires I've got Racetech springs with emulators up front and 444's on the rear. Aside from a braced swingarm (Sean is making me one) and frame braces I think cutting 30-40lbs off the bike is probably the last thing I can...

    Weight Shaving

I know removing the center-stand and swapping out the rear fender to one that doesn't use the metal bracket are a couple easy ways to shed some lbs, but are there some other easy ways of cutting weight (I'm not going to start eating at Subway)? I know the Carr wheels are a lot lighter, but...
