i really need to post a video of the noise but it doesn’t sound like a rod or wrist pin noise. Sounds like maybe the cam chains... tensioner perhaps? Anyone have to replace them due to noise? I’ll post a video of it soon

I’d check your linkages and make sure you’re closed on all four and adjust as needed

I’m curious about your set up. If they’re not much bigger as said by another member here in another post, then what makes them perform? I believe that was said they aren’t true 40mm and are 36mm and being just about stock size one would question the need. I mean, factory carbs can be a big pain...

Does the royal star starter also have the flat Phillips screw in the side? I was told from 96-up they were all 4 pole in those, but there isn’t a fly Phillips in those, considering we can use those in our bikes.

Sounds like a connecting rod, starting to go? But then again the valves and chain can make noise Drain the oil in a clean pan and look for gold. Mine made a similar noise when the rod went. If I can find the vid I’ll show you, but fresh oil is always good anyways.
