Did I get the wrong Venture Diff !! :(

Well as per my thread heading it appears the one is pre '86 so that won't work for you. And the other needs shimming, I believe it was too tight likely from day 1. No windshield no problem...only has 4,000 miles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did I get the wrong Venture Diff !! :(

Well contacted the dealer/wrecker and he apologized for the mixup. Said he'd send me the correct one and to keep the other. It showed up Thursday and I put it in. Went out for a rip Friday and I gotta say I LOVE IT!!! Nice, smooth and quiet. And the rpm drop is awesome. Like an extra gear...

Did I get the wrong Venture Diff !! :(

Posted on a Canadian site looking for a 1986 to 1993 Yamaha Venture 1300 final drive. A dealer responded saying he had one, paid, shipped, arrived and went to install it today and the shock mount is not in the same place as my vmax :bang head: He said it was off a 1990.

How much driveline nois is normal?

Yeah I did the screw driver stethoscope trick and it's definitely coming from the rear. I'm sure they've got the lash wrong. I'm going to start there. Thanks for the feedback.

How much driveline nois is normal?

No it is definitely drive line related. But I haven't tried putting it up on the stand and running it up to speed to see if I can tell where it's coming from. Perhaps the screwdriver trick or stethoscope. I'll check the manual for verifying the lash. I had a guy set the lash wrong on a 10 bolt...

How much driveline nois is normal?

I'm pretty sure it isn't engine noise as it's not rpm related whatsoever. 4th and 5th gears are when it's most noticeable - between 80-90 kms / 50 mph ish. They said they replaced the bearings in the final drive. But the middle gear could be the culprit? I read one thread where a guy held a...

How much driveline nois is normal?

I've got a 2007 Vmax with 4500 miles. I have a batwing and windshield and stock exhaust on it so it's quite quiet. Except for a pesky driveline noise. I can hear the noise mostly on what I'd call light or balanced power. So fairly quiet on acceleration and deceleration. Last summer I pulled...

    Drivetrain play. Is this normal?

Ok, well that's good. I guess I'll put it on ignore. Thanks.

    Drivetrain play. Is this normal?

Here is a link to a video. I've had a noise coming from the drivetrain. I've only had the bike since the spring. It's a 2007 with 6500 kms on it. I noticed it when I put in the windshield/fairing. I'm assuming it's been there for a long time. I thought it was in the dif, so ended up with a $400...

Please verify Venture final drive years...

Well I'm told by the stealership that the bearings and shims need to be done on my 2007 Vmax. And parts are backordered for about 3 weeks. Thinking now might be a good time to do the Venture final drive swap. From what I've read 1986 to 1993 1300cc Venture final drives will fit? Is this correct?

    Pinion Video - Too Loose?

Ok thanks again. The drawing helps. Could the final drive shim be too loose? Or an issue with a ring gear shim? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Pinion Video - Too Loose?

Oops, one last thing. The nut that goes onto the threads I was pulling on. Is that the nut that can loosen off? If so mine was tight tight...
