Hi I have Kawasaki ninja 1000 and it has good low end power like a vmax with an upright riding position. It has available hard bags too. It's not a big bike so it wouldn't be good for a real big guy in my opinion. It leans more toward the sport side of things but its a pretty good all around...
The Rocket 3 looks stupid. I would rather have a gen 1 any day. If this kid gets this Rocket it will be brand new to him I would think that would be an advantage to you. Good luck.
Thanks for organizing this ride i had a great time riding with everyone. Even though I don't have a vmax any more I felt welcomed and I appreciate that. Vmax riders in my experience have some of the best attitudes when it comes to diffrent types of bikes and the people that ride them. I wish...
I was going to start changing mine also but i found a local shop near my work that will instal and balance my new tires and get rid of the old ones for $35.00. Can't beat that in my area.
Just a thought but when i first pick up my max it would stall out when hot sometimes. It ended up being a corroded electrical connection that came from the rectifier causing poor battery charging. I guess it would be good to check anyways.
I sold my 2000 vmax about a year or so ago and I do miss it. Mostly the sound of the v4 and it's legendary status . But I don't miss the rest. If you do alot of two up riding you definitely made the right choice. Plus the FJR is a Yamaha so your still in the family. Have fun on your new bike.
Here's a crappy pic of what it would look like with the dual Delkevic carbon fiber cans. I'm glad to hear that your are still enjoying that bike.

Welcome to the fourm. I did the same tail light mod. I also converted the rear red reflector to a brake led light. I got it from Walmart in the trailer section for cheap. It fits perfectly. Nice looking vmax.
