In the seemingly never ending search for my randomly lost cylinder the only place left to look was the ignition module. Thankfully I'm pretty sure I found the problem. As you can see in the pictures, there were corroded components beyond reconditioning. I lightly scraped the worst one with a...
I took apart the plug to reveal the leads and there was no change. tested the resistance from each lead to the frame and there was no short. only found the short when connected to the two leads. on a disappointing note, the replacement motor I ordered off of ebay has the same issue. windings are...
I didn't take it apart but I did disconnect it from the rest of the harness and connected the multimeter to the blue + and the black -. That's how I figured the short was in the motor. I already ordered a used fan/motor but I will take the connectors out of the plug to see if I can salvage a spare.
Recently my max had been blowing fuses on the radiator fan circuit. I installed my own cheap hardware toggle switch to bypass the thermostat so I could kick on the fan whenever I felt like it. That was my first suspect. After going through the circuit, everything seemed to have solid...
Test rode one not too long ago at Iron Pony for Indian's demo day. It was an awesome experience. the bike has git up and go all through the rev range. seriously considering getting one. 3.3 gallon tank meh but at reported 42 mpg it's about the same as the max. only thing that bothered me was...
well i couldn't wait, too anxious. so i went thread diving. after sifting through 6 pages of "reserve switch" thread results, I came across this thread: http://vmaxforum.net/showthread.php?t=17272&highlight=reserve+switch
thanks, ninjaneer!
Hey, guys. So a couple times I have gone 100 miles without filling up. then the red fuel light would come on. So I would throw the switch to reserve (left since letters are worn out) and it would sputter and give all kinds of hell. But thanks to this forum I deduced it was a short somewhere in...
Great input, 9.nub. hadn't thought of looping the vent hose up to filler extension then down. That would solve both the venting and the overflow.
As far a cap goes, I don't have a spare filler neck laying around and I had seen someone on here had used the stant instant fill. I liked the idea...
I am currently working to modify a custom Corbin seat. I hate taking off the seat every time I pump gas. It gets really annoying. So I'm looking to do this filler neck extension mod as well. I've done some forum searching and found some info on the mod but not a lot. I think I saw one post about...
