Hello couple of years ago I had issue with my pick up coil. It would misfire when it got hot. Had a hard time chasing the problem down.
the misfiring was hard on the drivetrain as it would load and unload the drivetrain quickly
I notice now that the driveline has quite a bit of lash...
I chased a misfire issue for a long time
changed a lot of parts and tore down the carbs before determining it was the pick up coil
when it got hot it caused all kinds of issues
upon very close inspection the brown wire at the back of the gauge was broken....it was very difficult to see
removed terminal connector re soldered and she is working again

Hello I am having issues with my temp gauge. It has stopped working altogether. I have checked connections at the back of the gauge cluster and the sending unit connector both are clean and free of corrosion. I have tried grounding the sensor wire to the frame but the needle still does not...
I was having all those misfire issues and changing the pick up coil in the spring cured them or so I thought
The misfire is back mostly under acceleration at this point with a warm engine. I lose the tach when it misfires as well.
I have ordered another pick up coil but I am getting tired of...
I called my local dealer and was told that this part for a 96 was $216 cnd
has this part come down in price???
It lists on the usa sites for over 400 retail
