so after all ive done, rebuilt and checked... i really think that the problem lies in a gap between the engine exhaust outlet and the head/flange of exhaust pipe. it backfires from front of bike as well as one side of tail pipe. trying to get it off and the stud seems bent/crooked, causing a...

thank you! ill try to figure out how to test all that. by HT leads do you mean plugs & caps? it has a steady popping backfire from right exhaust only. does that indicate an air leak? thanks again so much to all

thank you. ill try that. i have the service manual (i think) but seems hard to navigate on laptop. because of that i bought clymer manual. havent dug into it, just got it. replaced doughnuts when i rebuilt carbs..

do you mean that they run up the sides of the air box and get pushed into the grooves of the Y piece?-any idea where i can buy the correct hoses? thank you!

so i bought a '98 and these had been removed. ive heard both you need them and you dont need them. was going to put some on to see if it makes a difference. can someone tell me where are they supposed to run to? thank you

i need to change the dried/cracked gaskets at the top of the cylinder heads. are they called "valve pan gaskets"?- do i have to take out radiator to do it? anyone know of instructional video for that project? thanks in advance

thanks again. its def confusing for a novice. there are no brackets on my airbox. if thats oem, why would anyone remove them? do the brackets just hold them to the side of the airbox or are they also connected to something functional to bikes performance?

thanks all. one other question-when i took carbs out for first time i realized the carb vents werent attached to any hoses. is that even important? not sure i even know where those hoses are even supposed to run to? does it even make a difference if theyre connected or hoses are even present?
