well i dont know about low 8s but ya...there is more.... i mean we haven't even seen a ported head or revised cams yet..... 1700ccs is a lot to play with.....
oh and ya...i know its all fashionable to look at bolt on pipes as "seriosu power mods" these days but....to me anyway....unless you actually tear into the motor, id have to say slightly modded.... im old school like that...

i agree on usable power and launch characteristics (street or strip)... the quickest bike usually is the easiest to launch.
But it all gonna change... 1500cc old vmaxes get 165-200hp at the wheel....stands to reason the 1700cc new...
i actually heard it wasn't so much a different motor but basically different heads with variable valve timing that got in the way of the frame..which is all over the top of the motor now..... story is we still may see it down the road as a special addition or race kit
because these sport bikes are RPM based.... You see HP is a calculation based on torque at a given RPM.... if you make 200hp at 20,000 rpm, you are actually delivering very little torque.....
The "scary prototype" max was delivering massive amounts of torque low down in the usable rpm range...
ok...9.51 is mid 9s not low nines (though apparently UFO is preparing a max for what a few believe wil be 8s....but ok.... it wasnt long ago that many were saying it was only going to be a 10 second bike)
F1 banned traction control and motogp uses traction control so it must be an advantage...
