What kind of aftermarket rear shocks are you running?

For me, I try to keep the OEM aspect ratio. My Kosman wheels and tires drop the front a little more than the rear.

    Flakes in oil

Didn't mean to jump your post.

    Flakes in oil

Keep in mind trans. parts also get in the oil. Those rolling burnouts always made me smile, but slight wear of the gear dogs happens. It happens anyway even if not on the throttle.

    RIP ED Demino

Sorry to hear this. A good Vmax friend has left us. RIP Ed.

Vmax, still faster than a speeding ticket

I'm thinking of Tim right now, AKA Cop Runner! More than one Police cruiser has seen the rear fender of that Vmax.

1st Gen V-Max 2001 gen 1 cause I still expect to pay 12950.00 for a new P/U not just get it as a discount off the bottom line!

+1 FM, When someone wants to street race, pick a roll on up to 100 mph or so. We'll do fine against almost anyone.

    2005 Stator

Still silicone the wires around the gromet. It's a notorious leak spot.

What kind of aftermarket rear shocks are you running?

Wheel/tire height is something to consider when matching shock length, especially for custom wheels. Imho.

Are the Rotor Bolts made out a Chesse

Torx, that's my first attempt, after the Allen socket and hand impact. Heat is your friend, right from the beginning. Loctite I wouldn't be inclined to use on Rotor bolts. I've never seen a loose one.

Parts Wanted ISO WANTED CLUTCH SPRING :)

A used second spring is recommended. You'll notice a difference in the effort needed to pull the clutch lever in, but your clutch won't slip.

    Safety Gear

Yep, dress for the ride and the slide. I'm glad it wasn't worse my Brother. God speed recovery. It sucks big loosing my riding partner before the season even started, but more importantly your ok.

    Won't shift past 3rd gear

Glad you found the issue. Upgrading the segment is a worthwhile upgrade for early gen 1's. Somewhere in the 90's the factory did it for you.

Preventing the dreaded second gear problem

Liking the Dino oil, for the transmission especially. Rotella 15w-40 is popular here. Synthetic can cause slipping clutch issues. I'd ride it as is until you have to service it. Later model gears and, like mentioned, later segment are the way to go. The segment is a quick install.
