    Help...now what?

Will do all that today...once it gets above freezing, lol. Thank you for helpful insight. I may change or at least re-gap spark plugs for good measure too.

    Amazing Bolt / Screw Extractor

Yes I bought stainless cap heads at the hdwr store since I had to tap all the philips head screws. I was afraid to hit those screws with shock, since the anchor points on the carb could've broken...and that would have been a disaster. This is the perfect tool for delicate extractions. The...

    Help...now what?

I synched it last Fall, but will do it again tomorrow. Would you shoot starting fluid around the boots to see if the revs pick up, or is that asking for a fire?

    Help...now what?

Just finished doing the pea shooter and shotgun carb cleaning on my 99. My symptoms are groggy throttle response when cold on partial choke, followed by great riding for about 15 minutes until warmed up to hot, then when I come to a stop sign, the idle drops to 500 rpm, then stumbles lower and...

    Amazing Bolt / Screw Extractor

I used every vise grip I owned... even crushed one head clamping on, and still nothing. The vise grips were clunky and couldve mangled the housings too. These are precise and powerful, I was a skeptic...but no more. Love great tools. These screws had not moved since 1999, so either Yamaha used...

    Amazing Bolt / Screw Extractor

Just thought I'd share this repair discovery with the group...I was fighting seized screws in all 4 of the carburetors. Only the security star bits screws cane out, the Phillips head screws were seized. Nothing in my 50 years of wrenching tricks would break them loose...and getting heavy handed...

    Nuetral Shift Improvement

So has anyone actually gained any neutral shift improvement by performing the shift adjustment shown in the Venture Service Handbook? It says it helps to take a vise grips and bend the shifter shaft spring tab. Should I try this on the Max? I experience a tough time locating it once the engine...

Keep that Rust out of your Tank

Use Lucas Ethanol treatment if forced to use ethanol fuel. It keeps it corrosion and saves rubber parts. One oz every fill up.

    Manual Fan Switch Connection

With summer stop-and-go riding upon us, I would like to install a manual override switch for the cooling fans. I have a Gen 1 '99. However, I have searched the forum and watched videos, but there's no description or pictures of where you find the two wires to splice in the switch. This was the...

Keep that Rust out of your Tank

Ethanol is a curse. Period. In St. Louis we are forced to buy ethanol fuels, no options anywhere close. That's why I put 1 oz of Lucas Ethanol Conditioner in my tank with every fill up. Sometimes I add one eyedropper of two Yamalube stroke oil for good measure. My 99 runs like a striped-azz ape.

    Thread about Windshields

I'm 6.00' and my head was getting twisted around at highway speeds, so I bought this shield off ebay for $50. I can cruise without being pushed around now. I don't care for the look of it when compared to having nothing at all, but comfort wins out. The bike has overpowering cool, so this is...

The OIL thread. All oil related questions here.

Best value, best results, buy Rotella T4 15W40. Anybody that's been around bikes for years swears by it. I buy the 2.5 gallon jugs and use it in all the bikes. Done.

Keep that Rust out of your Tank

Use this if you're stuck with only ethanol fuel where you live:

Keep that Rust out of your Tank

I use an Lucas additive that conditions out the ethanol in fuel. Sadly, in St Louis, there is no place that sells real fuel anymore. Thanks EPA. It requires a drive south 50 miles to get agricultural fuel.
