    Seals only or full rebuid?

So, I will try to raise the fork height back to the stock height. I am not small, 6-2, 250. I looked at the Race-Tech site vs the progressive springs. There is quite a difference in cost, but if the ride is that noticeable of a difference, then I don't mind paying the extra. Some folks...

    Seals only or full rebuid?

I intend to keep it for a while. I love the bike. I have: -done a complete rebuild of the carbs and rejet and needle with Dynajet -Upgraded the ignition to Dynamax -Sealed and modified the gas tank -Repaired numerous smaller items -Replaced the missing parts where I can. It already has...

    Seals only or full rebuid?

I didn't see any kits. I was starting to fall for the hype of increased performance on some generic kit claims. I also saw a lot of traffic on replacing the stock springs, and other fork "upgrades". I guess for now, I will just order the stock oil and dust seals. Thanks for the input.

    Seals only or full rebuid?

I am getting ready to replace the seals on my 1999 Max. I was wondering if any of you who had gone beyond the seals and replaced the bushings and internal seals have noticed any performance increases. Would you consider the full rebuild worth it? Also, I cannot seem to find a bushing/rebuild...

    Seals or full rebuild

Greetings All, I have a 1999 I have done a lot of work on. I am getting some oil seepage out of one of my forks. I am considering ordering the bushings and internal orings, but I cannot seem to find a full rebuild kit for this model, which means ordering by the piece part, which I hate. For...

    I need 1998 Gen1 Fork Sliders

It is probably too late for advice, but, couldn't you have drilled out the bolt head? Then just pulled the rest of the internals out. Then you could have gotten on the rest of the bolt with a small pipewrench or vicegrips to replace the bolt. How did it turn out??

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

For this reason, and the fact I feel lucky my tire held pressure untill I got home, I ordered a mushroom plug kit to carry. I already have the sticky string plugs (they were not with me when i got "nailed"), but like the look of the mushroom style more. They seem fairly simple to use a would...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Good Day Vmax folks. After all the work I have recently done to get my bike back to operation. After riding, currently at 140 miles trying to make sure all systems are a go, I pick up a nail. It is not in the side, but it is not far from the side either. The tire only has 140 miles on it. I...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Greetings all. So, where is a good place to go for an actual service manual or PDF? All I seem to see are the clymer books, which I already have, or non specific motorcycle maintenance trying to pass off as Vmax manuals Thanks in advance.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Greetings. So, I have not posted very much, but I have done quite a bit to my 99 Max. It started with replacing the tires, which meant cleaning and polishing the rims (some). Then when I went to start it, it would not start off choke. So, carb rebuild and Dynojet upgrade. Of course I had to...

    needle valve / seat removal.????

Good evening. I am new here. I am currently rebuilding my carbs. The way I found to remove the valve seats, understanding I am not reusing the seats and filters, is to heat the carb up with a heat gun and fine tip around the area of the plug and vakvv. I then use a close fitting aluminum rod...

Are you a new member? Come here and say hi!

Greetings. My name is Darin. I just purchased a 99 Vmax, I have been wanting one for ever. I look forward to looking at the valuable information here, and when I do something to be proud of, other than just buying a new2me bike, I will be glad to post. Of course, I could not buy anything...
