I get what you are saying about liking the handling of your bike. Oddly, I am totally content with the handling of my Gen1. I cut my teeth on the street back in the 80's, and those bikes fit my riding style, I suppose. Despite the fact I've had a ton of modern sportbikes.

I have a number of things to do before it can be ridden. I also haven't really addressed my fuel tank woes, just swapping the spare in. I did solve the gas cap problem, though: It may seem inconvenient carrying a roll of aluminized duct tape everywhere you ride, but you never have to worry...

Unhooked each coil (COP mod) one by one. Grounded to frame, each plug does spark. Each plug was a little wet. Still no start.

I'm kinda baffled here. I installed the spare tank and fuel, and some new lines, but I have hit an impasse. The fuel pump is back to not running. I checked the voltage at the male end of the pump electrical connection, and it is only around 10.5v when the bike is switched on. The new Odyssey...

Well, I can't make out any screws on the underside of the cap. I do see gunk/corrosion/sludge...I guess that is what it is. There was sludge in the bottom of the tank that covered the hole when I removed the drain bolt.

Man, I can't imagine trying to hustle that tank around the track! That is no offense, it is just a huge bike. But I think we have all seen that guy railing his Goldwing through Deals Gap...so, with great skill it must be possible. Good luck and have fun! Oh, and since the date has passed...do...

Easily could be that mileage. I bought my 1989 V-Max in 2013...and it only had 2700 miles on it, from the original owner.

Can you imagine, back in 1985, someone saying they got a V-Max as a first bike? That would have sounded insane! :D

Just an update, I ordered some parts from Ronayers, and they arrived in a timely fashion. These same parts are all listed as backordered on Bikebandit. So, maybe it isn't such a issue as suspected.
