Do the 85-88 bikes REALLY have 145hp and all the subsequent years only 110hp? Or did someone finally put the bike on a proper dyno? I ask as I have an 85 and it doesn't feel 35hp faster than my brother's 98. My ZX12r, on the other hand, DEFINITELY feels 60hp faster. Any thoughts?

well, it magically started to work for a little while, then it stopped. Playing with the connector doesn't do anything.....hmm

Does anyone know exactly what I'll need to make the swap? Will the rotors bolt right up to my old school spoked wheels? I'd like to do the rear as well just to keep it uniform.

Well I got it back together and the problem appears to be solved. It does not smoke at idle anymore, however it does smoke a little after its' been ridden hard. I think this has something to do with the fact that the previous ownersput all of 500 miles on it in the course of two years. There...

I played around with the connector, still nothing. The connector looked clean inside as well. Hmmmm.

what does a new set cost? I took one jet block off, everything was clean and flowed fine. The brown stuff ended up in the bowl after I hosed the whole carb down with brake cleaner to remove surface grime.

I have a sissy bar from my 'Max. I don't care for the looks and I don't need it. It's in perfect structual shape, but the annodizing is giving out. It's a perfect candidate for polishing, powdercoating, or paint. I don't know what it's worth, so make an offer via PM or e-mail...

Holy vocab batman! I have a new UNI filter, I don't know if the Vboost is working at all (see my other post), the floats move fine, the slide move freely, the rubbers on the jet block look fine, I'm going to check the spark once I get the carbs back on (the fuel pump spewing fuel everywhere...

I pulled the carbs apart earlier this evening. The floats are between 1.12 and 1.14. I guess that's a little on the lean side, yet the excess fuel keeps entering into the motor. Where to now?

Should the Vboost system cycle when the key is turned on an 85? I don't remember if my 92 did, but my 98 does.

I'm going to play with it some more today. I'm almost certain the float levels are to blame. The previous owner said the bike ran perfectly until one day it began to smoke while he was out riding. I think the damaged float bowl gasket was the main culprit (fuel was leaking out of the float...
