    Replacing Carb Diaphragms

A member reported using roofing cement! I suppose it's a Dream (V4) we all have, fix something for next-to nothing: baling wire, duct tape, and whatever-else you can resource from the 'junk drawer.'

    Master cyl options?

I believe different years have different bores, You might try using 'advanced search' as it's been posted-about here with a legend of 'what year for what bore size.'

    Gen 1 fan switch

2 wires, blue [1] and brown [2] appear to be the correct colors on this to-1989 wire diagram, going to the fan thermocouple. Be sure that one side isn't always-hot, where the fan would run when 'on' even with the engine and ignition off. Many vehicles will continue to run power to the cooling...

    Cobra Exhaust Tuning Recommendation

COBRA! Every so-often, The Cobra rears its head. It's not his venom which places you in-peril, it's his bad breath.

    1st Gen V-Max Just Bought a 2001 Black Max

For the new owners: Print-out this factory service manual, and put it into a 3-ring binder. It can save you thousands of dollars if you use it. The format is a bit confusing, Yamaha has 'supplements' for...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Back in the day, standard size-rear as I recall on a KZ was a 130, so a 140 was the big-boy on the block. Then the VMax was released with a 150! Gargantuan! Oldsters who are familiar with choppers of the '60's will recall the tire/wheel of choice was a 5.10 X 15" which was a VW Beetle tire size...

Delkavic full exhaust system on gen 1 any good?

I think the Marving system looks interesting. With the crossover pipe I suspect they would be similar to OEM in performance. I like the appearance, similar to OEM.

Two suggestions: MOSFET regulator/rectifier Crimp-fix: solder it!

Blue under lights? I have bunch of them from police Harley.

OK to get tickets for illegal illumination. Why kick a hornet's nest? Florida Statutes 316.2397 Certain lights prohibited; exceptions. (2) It is expressly prohibited for any vehicle or equipment, except police vehicles, to show or display blue lights. However, vehicles owned, operated, or...

    Headlight diameter? 5.5"???

I agree w/Sean, 5-1/4" is OEM. Here's a replacement that uses CREE LED's, which are supposed to be the gold standard from what I've read. Note it requires a larger bucket. I use a 7" round...

    Rear shock top adjuster problem

The factory service manual warns about turning the damper adjustment collar to beyond the #'s in either direction.
  12. Fire-medic Not cheap but... Not cheap but well-made, easily-adjustable, and strong, the bike is very-stable in-place, and takes little effort to move.

Delkavic full exhaust system on gen 1 any good?

I suppose if you wanted to, you could send 'em out for a thicker chrome layer, but it probably would be a cheaper way to go to just buy a good system to begin. I have some new Delkevic I haven't used yet, just waiting for the correct use/bike to install 'em-on.

Engine and Valve cover paint question

    I like Sean's 'Toxic Avenger/Hulk' engine.

Engine stalls after few minutes. Video.

A bad pick-up coil may read 'open'-infinite after it gets warm. Let the bike cool-down, and it starts. Once again let it warm-up, and the engine dies. Take a reading on the resistance of the pick up coil (1990-2007) or coils ('85-'89). If you have no reading, looks like you found the issue. See...

    Master cyl options?

It appears to be something which would work; like anything having to do with power delivery or brakes, test your repair thoroughly before taking it out on the road, into traffic. $25 and free USA shipping, sounds like a good price point. I hope an experienced member can take a close look at the...

    Got a question

Check the sidestand switch, it may be sticky. The starter button can also stick, not returning fully-out.

Supercharged Honda Gold Wing 1000cc dragster

Kyle that's a sweetheart. A great deal for someone. And if someone wants a single-carburetor 'spider' manifold for one, I know where to get one, I think it has a Holley on it. Here's a pic of a same era GW my friend's shop recently got operational for a cheap guy. This is the 'before' pic.

    Master cyl options?

Easily bypassed in the wire loom if the replacement master cyl doesn't have a switch. Of course, you lose the safety of that feature if you bypass the circuit hookup to a switch.
