Corbin seat opinions (vmax 2nd gen)

I haven’t sampled a Corbin on a Vmax but I’ve had one on my ‘05 Speed Triple, and on two other bikes decades ago. I remember the Corbin’s being wildly uncomfortable, both in shape and foam. In all cases, I sold the Corbin’s and bought Sargents, which were much better.

Help install Akra Xpipe with stock exhaust on Gen 2

If you want an x pipe with the stock look, buy my Optimal Carbone x pipe. There’s a for sale thread. If you don’t want a check engine light but you don’t want to tune the bike, just leave the EXUP motor connected to the harness but remove the cables from it so it doesn’t actually do anything.

Parts For Sale Optimal Carbone x pipe for Vmax 1700

For sale is a used Optimal Carbone x-pipe for the Vmax 1700. It's in undamaged physical condition--no dents, bends, etc. The coating doesn't look the prettiest but that doesn't affect the functionality. Bolted to the stock mufflers and headers, this increases sound level moderately, but not...

    Dominator Cat delete question

The Guru tunes will prevent a check-engine light from completely removing the EXUP motor and cables. Or at least that's what I remember.. I have a 4-2-1 exhaust and a Guru tune, and no CEL.

Gen 2 --- Asking for tires recommendations

Your experiences with Shinkos run contrary to mine, and contrary to conventional wisdom with motorcycles in that front tires typically last about twice as long as rears. I've had my Shinko-shod Gen2 to Deals Gap and the surrounding areas, scraping pegs with no traction issues, and I've had it...

GLOBAL WAR ON COBRAS, Part Deux

Actually, now that I think about it, it wasn't Kerkers, it was Jardine slip-ons. I remember finding them on Ebay and they were brand new but like half price so I contacted the seller to make sure the listing included both sides, which it did. I installed them in place of the Cobras with no...

GLOBAL WAR ON COBRAS, Part Deux

My first Vmax was a ‘98 that I overpaid for on EBay back in the early 2000s (pictures were fuzzy and the bike was in far worse condition than expected), and it had Cobras on it with the baffles punched out. I eventually low-sided it and replaced the scuffed Cobras with a set of Kerker slip ons...

SUPERCHARGED YAMAHA VMAX - $7,000 (Huntington Beach)

I don't love the red paint, but if I was in the market for a clean-looking supercharged Vmax, I'd buy it. I wouldn't even change the red.

Jack for Gen 2 with no cat, has Akra midpipe

Why not just use a swingarm-lift stand for the back of the bike, and a head-lift stand for the front? That's what I do. At one point, when changing out the shock, I can't remember exactly what I did but I think I ran a rod through the frame and used jack stands to support it.

    Flakes in oil

Yup, I'm a religious user of Blackstone analyses. I've probably paid that company a couple thousand dollars over the last two decades.

Thunder By The Bay - Any good?

Just tell your wife there won't be any hill climbs and ride your bike to the event. LOL

    Fork Seal Kits (VMX17)

The title says VMX17, so he has an '09+ Vmax. I didn't see any aftermarket options in a couple pages of Google results, so OEM might be the only way to go. https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/motorcycle/2014/vmax-vmx17egy/front-fork

What is the part number for the bolts that attach the OEM backrest?

Good call. I cancelled the 60mm screws and ordered the 65s.

What is the part number for the bolts that attach the OEM backrest?

Thanks for the link. The bolt is right around 2.5", which is just over 60mm, so I ordered the 60mm bolts.

What is the part number for the bolts that attach the OEM backrest?

There are four bolts that attach the OEM backrest to the bike. I've lost one of them. I'm able to find parts fiches for all of the OEM parts for the Vmax as it was delivered from the factory, and I can find the entire backrest kit for sale, but I can't find part numbers for individual items in...

My old Vmax is up for sale

You have the opportunity to buy back the bike you sold, for the same money that you sold it for? It's a no-brainer. Hand the guy $4K and get your scoot back.

    Tried a stoppie

The true limiting factor for braking on a Gen1 Vmax is going to be the absolutely pathetic grip limit of the bias ply tires. The best brakes in the world arent going to help you stop any faster when the front tire is locked. I put HH pads and steel lines on my old Gen1, and it was passable for...

Parts Wanted Looking for exhaust or mid pipes (that go with Stock Muffler) for Gen 2

I have an Optimal Carbone cat delete x-pipe. Need to post a real “for sale” ad. I think they’re going for more than a grand new. Asking $700 shipped to the 48 states.
