The starters are the weak link in the Gen 2.

The OEM spec. In my short ride seemed just fine. I had the exact same wobble at the same speeds as you. Disappointing to have a new tire be so bad from 0 miles. I figure once the weather breaks I'll burn off the rear and replace. Don't really want to run mismatched tires.

Unfortunately, it was the Shinko. Put on a Battle Ax, problem gone. I had one pair of Shinkos with no issues, but after this I'm soured on them. Looks like a 50/50 chance you get a good tire. I'll spend the extra and get a quality tire, lesson learned.

Problem solved....Put on a Battle Ax up front and finally got a nice day to test it. Smooth as can be. Really disappointed in the Shinko. I had one set before with no problem, but I'm sort of shocked that a new tire would be that bad. I know some people have had mutiple sets with no issues.

I'm sure you could, but if it hasn't been serviced in a while you should probally get the seals replaced and oil changed.

No centerstand on Gen 2's, looks Like I need to use an ATV lift or something similar.

Thanks guys, any tips for jacking up a Gen 2 from the center ? I have the full Hindle which is really thin, is it safe to use an ATV lift on the oil pan ? Thanks

I'm interested in this also, I have a blown one sitting on the shelf. When mine went, I got a good preowned one from Sean. Never gotaround to finding someone to rebuild it.

Thanks, I had good luck with my first pair except for the bubble on the front. I'm still going to check out the bearings, but I may try a Dunlop up front. Which Dunlop do you run ?

Thanks Sean, I have front and rear stands but no way to jack the bike up from the middle so I just tried pulling on the front forks, nothing moved but I'm sure that's not going to tell me anything unless they were ridculosly loose.

Mine has 42k on it and everyonce in a while I have to give it a tap to start. Just havent got around to rebuilding or replacing it yet. 1800 seems very low, but the starters seem to be one of the most common wear items. Everything else has been rock solid.
