    Motor installation

Anyone here know a trick to installing the engine? When I took it out months and months ago, it was a pain. Valve covers are installed and left side covers are installed. Anyone know a trick for an easier install i.e. from the right with motor turned sideways???? LOL

Looking for a sport bike, advice?

I'm really liking the used 2012 Super Tenere's I'm seeing around.

Looking for a sport bike, advice?

Great advice guys, I will look strongly at the Strom 650. I looked at the concours and fjr 1300 today and those seemed to big for my comfort level. Sat on a FJ 09 and it was definitely nice. Sounds like the "frog thrown against the wall" is my most viable option at this point, LOL. Thanks,

Looking for a sport bike, advice?

I have been looking at those also. My concern with bikes that size were how they do on the highway at speeds. I'm sure they would be better around town than the larger bikes.

Looking for a sport bike, advice?

Thanks for the input guys. I have a lot of research to do. I'm going to head up to a local shop and check some out this weekend. Anyone else with personal experience, please chime in also.:biglaugh:

Looking for a sport bike, advice?

All, I'm looking for a sport touring bike. It would be driven to work (65 miles round trip) and on some weekends on a 500 mile round trip. I'm looking for something with hard bags and plenty of power. I also wan't an upright riding position. I have been eyeballing the used Kawasaki Concours 14...

    1985 Transmission removal/diagnosis

I am currently working with Sean on fixing this thing and also upgrades to the transmission while i'm in there. He definitely has a wealth of knowledge on these things. I have opted out of doing the overdrive 5th gear. I searched quite a bit on here and didn't find any overwhelming accounts...

    1985 Transmission removal/diagnosis

Pulled the case this morning and found an issue right off the bat. Just to recap my post in the the clutch forum, this happened while I was out tuning the bike. I had just replaced my 152.5 main jets with 150's and was out seeing the results. It felt great and decided to leave the next light...

    1985 Transmission removal/diagnosis

Problem: When more than 1/3 throttle is applied, it revs up accompanied with a ratcheting gear noise, in multiple gears. Previously posted in clutch section and realized it's not clutch after removal and re-installation. Suspect bent shift forks, shift drum damage or gear dogs worn. I'm posting...

    What's a good engine stand???

You guys have any pics of your set ups? Will this allow me to split the cases in the stand?

    What's a good engine stand???

All, I have my engine prepped and am about to remove it from my 85' for transmission problems and am trying to figure out the easiest way to work on it. Is there a good stand out there for mounting the engine that you guys have used? Right now I'm going to work it on the floor until I split...

    Clutch gone, Need advice

Thanks Traumahawk, I actually saw that yesterday and saved the link. Great info there. Whats a good inexpensive bike stand to use while I do this? I have no center stand. I guess I could buy the Harbor freight jack and strap it to it after I pull the exhaust.

    Clutch gone, Need advice

I have plenty of tools and initiative. I'll ask Sean about his oiling kit. What else do you suggest replacing while inside? Engine is an 85 model, but only has 29,XXX miles. I'm already making plans for solid mounts, painting that old engine, and doing the valve adjustment among other things.

I've come to terms with the fact I need to pull the engine now:eek: Just trying to figure out the financial side.
