    240mm rear tire on Vmax 1700 ???

    I bought the bike used and it was on it and as far as I was told it is the original rim. Check with your local shop and see. However there was a lot of work done to the bike by the previous owner and not 100% sure. Custom billet work all over, full exhaust, Yamaha racing ECU, K&N, brake lines...

    I have a 240 on mine. Love it. Handles great with Metzeler tires. Rear: 240/40 VR 18 and changed the front to 120/70 ZR 18. Powder coated the rims to match the bike too. Nice bike Blacklightning. Looks familiar.

    Use what is recommended by manufacturer. Owners manual page explains oil types and clutch slippage for not following.

    Fire-medic is right about the oil. I owned a 95 vmax and always used conventional oil with no slipping. I currently own a 2010 gen 2 and the bike shop I had change the oil while installing new tires used synthetic oil and almost immediately my clutch started slipping. It was worse after warming...

    Tires

    I’ve always used Metzeler ME880 but I think the newer version is ME888. I’m running the 240 width and it looks great!

    Better Horn

    I used a WOLO Bad Boy and mounted it to the lower bolt of the side brace if the engine using a small black L bracket. Fits great tucked away. I originally tried to put it where the stock mount was but it looked terrible and out of place.
