    1500 finally put together!

Sorry for no dyno charts at this time, but long story short, I (with the help of Sean of course) finally got my vmax made into a 1500! With the new higher compression pistons, I got the assembly balanced, ported my heads and v-boost manifolds, and used Sean's bigger 5th gear. I started it up...

    For Sean...ring gap question.

Thanks! Definately don't want to run too tight! I'm sure I still won't be done as soon as I want, but I'll post dyno results, etc. once I've got it back on the road. Marc.

    For Sean...ring gap question.

Hi Sean, it's Marc Matczak. It's been a long time since I bought my pistons, sleeves, studs, oil pump mod, 5th gear and whatever else I got from you for my vmax 1500 project. I am finally hell bent on not working on anybody else's stuff until I get my 1500 setup together. Could you please...

    Before/After...

I don't have an afr for those runs. When I first put the motor in, I was at a different dyno 4 hrs away, and the clutch slipped badly after 3,500rpms, so the afr couldn't do me much good. Then I went to a different dyno 2 1/2 hours away, and I was smoking the tire so I didin't tune to an afr...

    Pissed off,feelin a bit defeated

Mine stock made 107hp at the rear wheel also, so if you're rich there's more on the table. If you are running vboost open the whole time, that will actually lean you up on the lower rpms. Look at the higher rpms to see what mains you want to try next. If you are rich now on the low end, you will...

    Before/After...

Well, the only bad thing I can say about this motor is that it's a little harder on tires now!:eusa_dance: I ordered my tires for next year already and one just arrived today. The place I have putting in the sleeves for my 1500 (my original 1200 motor) told me today that he might be done w/my...

    Need new rear tire...help!

Well, my 2000 vmax just turned 10,000 miles when I was at the strip, so if I can get 7K out of the rear tire, I'm good for a few years! So far the Shinko sounds pretty good. I never heard of them before this website. I wonder if my dealer can get them. Thanks guys! My one buddy mentioned a...

    My best so far...

    I ran a dozen times in a row last year and the most I could get out if my 2000 was 11.7 . I can't print the file after my scanner scanned my new time slip, but here's what I got Sunday... reaction .7281 60ft 1.7938 1/8 7.0318sec 1/8 100.20mph 1/4 11.0769sec 1/4 122.30mph I don't know if...

    Before/After...

Sorry for the poor quality of the dyno graph. I'm not that good at computers. I wasted 45minutes trying and trying to downsize the graph to fit on the post and now it's hard to read. Anyways...before= 108.18hp 76.31tq and after=131.36hp 86.77tq. (std). I didn't know which correction people went...

    Need new rear tire...help!

Well, I know for a fact now that I played at the strip, there is no way my tire will pass inspection next time around! I am currently running stock rubber (2000 vmax). With the same stock rims, what tire does everybody recommend? I only ride 1,000 ish miles a year (because I live in Erie and the...

    V-max head questions...

Another point to make, is that you could take the same amount off either the head (easier) or block, (harder) but you would raise the compression more by taking it off the block (or smaller head gaskets) because you would be raising the compression by the area of the bore diameter and thickness...

    Vmax owners age?

Had my first vmax when I was about 20. I had an '89 less than a year old w/1700 miles on it that still smelled like new, but I had to replace the frame (tweeked). Now I'm 40 and have a 2000 w/7000 miles that is in nicer shape than the 1/2 year old one I used to have. (Midlife crisis?):confused2:

Any way to change my Hindles sound?

I wish I could comment on the sound of it but I can't. I have a brand new never mounted carbon fiber silencer I bought for my 4-1 hindle, but got my hands on some ufo twins before using the hindle. I think it says stealth on it, and it does look incredibly nice. I can't use it and have a little...

    Looking for "backfire" (John)

I'm going to be porting one of my sets of heads and flowbenching them before and after, and want to flowbench them the same way he might be doing his so we can help each other with info and compare apples to apples and testing w/a dyno. Thanks!

    Headlight modulator

A friend of mine just died last Friday when a car pulled out in front of him because he didin't see him. :damn angry: I'm going to get a modulator and be seen! Even if it bothers some people...it bothers them because they see it.

Yamaha VMax vs Honda V-65 vs Suzuki Madura....

My first vmax was an '89 and less than a year old when I got it. Then I had my first daughter, then a second. Sold the 'max in '97. A third kid later, and now that they are all a little older, I just got back into bikes the other year. Looked for another vmax or v65, and found a deal on an...

    Hot starting issues

Re: HELP --- Where is the kick start? - Hot start Question My 2000 wouldn't turn over fast enough to start when I first got it when it was warm. Battery was probably a little tired also. I must have the better version of the starter though, because now I have the 300cca (goldwing) battery in...

    Results after 7 passes...

Yep. If someone says they have a fast banshee, there are many different levels of fast. I heard of the Rotax setup, and there are Cheatah "cub" cylinders, etc. I am just using stock cylinders and porting them. Mine is just under 400cc's. Some races, they go by ccs, some by keeping...
