I'm 51, have an 88 VMax. Also have a 1980 XS Eleven Venturer. Previous bikes include two Maxim 400's, a Maxim 650, Radian 600 and a Susuki Boulevard S50. Never liked the Boulevard, too much backwards lean. I prefer to sit up and ride.

For anyone that has parts bikes, I'm looking for the chrome part that the front turn signals attach to - mine got cracked when I dropped the bike on an oil slick. This is what the part looks like:

Ha, we're the same age and mine was originally red (the previous owner custom painted it with bright magenta and a cobra on the "tank"). Must be different owning a VMax in Turkey versus Canada, though you can probably ride more of the year.

I just joined, because I finally got a VMax. Have had numerous Yamaha's over the years, from my first bike (Maxim 400) to my other bike now (XS Eleven Venturer) but always wanted a VMax - even had the "VMax Junior" (Radian 600) for quite a few years. The bike is a 1988 with Hindle exhausts...
