Any UK members using this forum?

There are a few Gen 2s around the North West that I see at bike meets. Maybe we'll meet at the Blackpool vmax rally next summer, if Otto confirms it.

    Puzzled.

If all of that fails ... I had very strange issues with a gen 1 including some of your symptoms and also the engine running on 2 cylinders for the first 2 minutes on start up. We chased the issue around for a year, with new parts including rectifier/battery (which made the bike run better but...

I'm in Manchester and hope to meet fine of you at one of the UK Vmax rallies in 2023. Safe riding!

    240 rear tire

But the Avon Techs do recommend the 120 Spirit ST for the front to match the 240 Cobra Chrome.

    dyno'd the beast today....

It can indeed. In fact it takes a 60 shot ok - with a PCV the injectors are 82% on the duty cycle so I suspect the limiting factor would be the fuel pump. What's your experience?

Radiator or Engine Paint Finish, Satin, Gloss or Matte?

It was black on the 2016 60th Anniversary model so you could try ordering one of those.

    ABS light

It's 2021 and mine has just started doing the same thing. Has anyone dug up a fix since this thread was started 2 years ago? I had an integrated tail light/indicator installed a month ago so it seems to be related. Here in the UK it is not legal to have the indicators integrated so I have...

    Maximum power from stock engine?

That's interesting. How do you know that? And is it rwhp?
  9. Vmaxstreetfighter

    Maximum power from stock engine?

I read that the standard denso fuel injectors can go up to 235 rwhp (compared to 175 as stock). So a Nash flash and a 40 shot of nitrous with a PCV controller takes you pretty close to the limit. You'd want to leave some contingency to avoid going too lean in certain atmospheric conditions...

    Maximum power from stock engine?

I used a WoN Streetblaster 75 bhp kit on my gen 1. It had 8 injectors into the manifolds so would work with no airbox. I set it to 50 rather than 75 out of sympathy for the internals.

It moved to 18-20 June 2021 so I'm planning to head down there in a few days time.

Wet nitrous on a Gen 1?

An arming switch on the left bar and then a micro switch on the carb assembly which completed the circuit at wide open throttle. I didn't want to be fiddling with a button when I was trying to hang on so I just used the throttle to control it.

Wet nitrous on a Gen 1?

Good plan but a gradual roll on is over rated! I had N2O plus fuel injectors in each Gen 1 manifold near the cylinder ports and it worked well. I did limit it to 50bhp so as not to stress the engine too much. The N2O on my Gen 2 injects into the air box to mix the gas a bit further upstream...

    Rear Tire

I used to have a Michelin pilot 4 180 on a Taylormade rim on my gen 1. It had zero clearance against the swing arm but never scraped and worked great.

    240 rear tire

It's an Avon 240. The yam dealer fitted it and very kindly made me a new inspection cover for the swing arm instead of using duct tape. I used an Avon Spirit 120 for the front which was good too but am now trying a bridgestone 130 as it fits the OTEC rim better.

    240 rear tire

I'm finding the Avon Cobra Chrome is rock solid.

    Low-Pro Backrest

Or here's the $150 solution from Exactrep in the uk.

Looking For a Gen2 Low Profile Back Rest in Silver w/ Red Stitch Part# 2S3-F84U0-V0-00

I'm trying a new solution to this old problem. The Yam backrests were so expensive and I need a rack too as I scratched my rear panel by lashing a tent on to the rear seat this year. I've now bought a Gen 2 Getaway rack from Exactrep and a backrest from China. Total cost less than 130 English...

What tires are you running on your Gen2?

Same here. I spoke to the Avon Tech Lead and that's what he recommended.

Yamaha not carrying Vmax after 2020

Most markets are moving on from petrol engines. Electric is the new route to massive acceleration. In the UK we won't be able to buy a new petrol/diesel vehicle after 2030 and by 2040 the worldwide market will be tiny. Development of brand new models is dryng up already. As one of the top m/c...
