    Battery questions..

So a couple of years ago I needed to replace my battery, and here down under they are SO expensive I ended up getting a boring old wet one :confused2: Sure enough, now it's already dead and need replacing. I hate wet batteries. When I lived in the US I could get an AGM or gel for a decent...

    fuel pressure loss question

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much - still riding my Max and loving it just not as often as I'd like! I have a question about the fuel pressure and especially the loss of it: I know that on a normal max, if it's left to sit for a few days, then upon switching the ignition back on there...

So having replaced by bad 2nd gear, I've put everything back together and filled up with oil, only to find out I have a bad leak at the bottom center of the alternator cover :bang head::bang head: The engine runs great though, which is happy news. Haven't tried the gears yet as I'm rebuilding...

    Cases are split..

.. I'm ready ready to get my 2nd gear fixed! I have the new (s/h) tranny ready to go in, tomorrow I'm going to the local Yam stealers to use their hydraulic press to swap all the gears from the new output shaft to my old one - I never knew before but it's best to keep the old shaft/middle gear...

Help - need a TCI for an '86

Well, as my '86 keeps cutting out on just one cylinder at lower revs, I want to try replacing the TCI to eliminate it from the equation. Does anyone have a spare TCI to fit a 1986 Vmax? Please let me know - I'll be in Florida in August so it can be sent to Captain Kyle for me and does not need...

    Wtf!?

So the other day I took off my windscreen and re-fitted the miles/kms speedo to my '86 as I had a prospective buyer coming. Then I sit on the bike, turn on the ignition, all lights up normally, vboost cycles as usual, then I press the starter button and all I get is the oil and fuel lights...

No spark on #1 at low revs

I'm experiencing no spark on cylinder #1 at low revs on my '86 - on idle that cylinder stays cold, when riding I can hear and feel it kick in at around 4500-5000rpm. :ummm: I have thrown new plugs in, and I have replaced the coil. I've measured tension on the coil connector and both wires show...

    Gasket materials

As I have to split my cases to fix my 2nd gear on the '00 Max, I've been wondering about the possibility of making my own gaskets rather than dropping $$$ on all the required ones. Does anyone know where to get the sheets of gasket material in order to do so, and what the cost of these is...

    no spark on #2 cylinder

So after fixing all my electrics the old '86 ran fine... for a few days. Then it started missing, and then feeling like it was running on 3 pots, only going to full power when in higher revs. I thought it might be the #2 coil, as I had noticed a break in the insulation of one of its wires. I...

    Allen screws chrome plugs

Does anyone know a good (cheap) source for those pesky little plastic chrome plugs that hide the allen screws on the handlebars mounts and on the upper and lower triple-trees? I need quite a few - they're missing from both the '86 and the '00..

    Clutch adjustment?

So on the '86 my clutch is slipping, quite a lot whenever I open it up. I know about the friction modifiers in the oil being no good, and I have no idea what oil this bike has in so an oil change is first on my to do list. But, the clutch lever bite seems to be quite far from the handlebars...
