rusty the easiest is to change clip positions - it sounds like you are running lean inbetween 1/4 to 3/4 throttle and the only thing that will give you lean is less than adequate fuel and in this range the simple fix would be go down to 4 clip position, you will be fat at the front but on target...

go with the 190/60-17 it is stock for the vrod. it is the same height as the stock set up for the max, so no rpm loss( or gain however you look at it) but you would need a notched swing arm, even with my pcw notched its very close, takes the nipples off the tire....lol..

the 17 works great, and with the new rubber made for the vrod ( 190/60-17 ) it is the same height as the original vmax set up...no rpm issues!!! it come out the same height as stock...sweeet!
