Bar End Mirrors at reasonable price.

I just purchased this pair of bar end mirrors from ebay for $45 with free shipping. They are designed to expand inside the handle bar but can be easily adapted for use on the 09 vmax by removing the xpandable portion from the mirrors and bolting directly to the end of the handle bar. This can...

88 octane verses 93 octane fuel road test.

I rode with gbrown in the black hills today. I had 88 octane fuel in my 09 and George had 93 octane in his 09. We made two roll on pulls on about a 4% uphill grade from 3000 rpms one in 4th gear and one in fith gear. The bike with 88 octane pulled ahead both times. Rider weight is...

    Catalitic Converter Eliminator

It is what it is! An ugly little insect! Lucky it will be hidden away and not visable. I used a small chamber thinking it would be easier to fabricate this way. After all said and done I'm not sure it was. It is difficult to get the rear down pipe attachments located properly. I plan on...

    Exhaust Removal 09

I spent yesterday afternoon removing the complete exhaust system on my 09 Vmax. Well almost the complete system. The shop manual says you have to remove the engine to get the rear header pipes out. Here ar a few things I learned during the process: 1. Removal of the mufflers is the easy...

March Motor Cyclist Magizine V-Max vs B-King

Got my March Copy today. Article is entitled: ABSOLUTE POWER Star V-Max VS. Suzuki B-King Seems like a pretty fair comparison though I have some questions about their horse power data. Maybe their test bike is not broken in yet 166.9 @8750 rpm Corrected 1/4 mile times: B-King 10.13...

Anyone else experiencing problem with the oil level light staying on? My 09 low oil level light has stayed on twice while riding the bike. Oil level is ok in window. 09 Mufflers all Show Cosmedics

I just removed the Mufflers off my 09. The two mufflers together weigh about 9.8 lbs. I believe someone else weighed the silencer/converter can at 20 lbs. That means entire system is only 30 pounds. Their is not going to be near the weight savings on the 09 as there was on the 1st Gens. when...

Here at Last / 09 photos

It came in on the afternoon of the 30th. I did the assembly and dealer prep then took my first ride at 5:pm The temp was 16 degrees so I only put on about 4 miles. Today (31st) at a balmy 33 degrees I did about 45 miles. It is everything that yamaha claims. I found 1st gear a little tall but...

    09 exhaust system weight.

I think there may be a greater weight savings on the 09 exhaust system when the after market pipes come out for them. Likely more than there was on the 1st gen bikes. The new exhaust syestem seems pretty massive to me plus it has the catilitic converter, servo motor, cables etc. for the exup...

    Drilling 09 Exhaust

Who will be the first to try this and see what they sound like? It apears that the exhaust tip cover can be easily removed, the exhaust can beneath drilled around the outlet pipe, and then the cover replaced. I may try it as long as I can weld the holes shut again if I don't achieve the...

    Swing arm tire clearance

It appears that on the shaft side of the swingarm there is a plastic cover that fills a hole in the swingarm closest to the tire. I think this will be able to be removed or modified for more tire clearance for those that feel they need a wider rear tire.

    Taking care of your SPLINE

Having worked at a dealership and changed many rear tires on shaft driven bikes it was clear to me that proper lubrication of the splines is a maintainence item that is often over looked by owners. Everytime that rear wheel comes off the splines should be greased. This goes for the...

    09 vmax front fender damage

If you are getting a 09 vmax check the front fender for scratches and maring. It is prone to getting scratched and or mared due to the way it is packaged for shipping. It can be easily damaged if blade is used to open box.
