idiot me never ordered a clutch cover gasket thinking I'd salvage my original one. It came off in about 17 pieces. Since it's not a cover that's actually holding any real amount of oil, can I use gasket maker until I get a new gasket?

I bought a Barnett clutch kit. (the purple one) The instructions are a single page showing that you removed the old one and bolt in the new one. Is it that easy? I haven't taken a Vmax clutch apart in 10 years and remember none of it.
