    1997 Vmax - $3000

I'm selling my 97 Vmax. I'm looking to sell it quickly and it needs a little work so i'm only asking $3000. The bike has 24,600 miles on it and i'm the second owner. It has a Mark's 4-2 exhaust and Moreley muscle seat as well as aftermarket handle bars and turn signals. The bike has not been...

    bike running terrible

Thanks a lot for the offer! But I live in Flushing which is about an hour south of you. There is no way I could drive my bike that far with the way its running right now. Im going to order a syncronizer tonight.

    bike running terrible

Oh wow, I had no idea, never even thought that could be the issue. Although this is my first bike and I have very little experience with them. It kind of makes sense though, because before when the needle valve was stuck it was only missing on that one cylinder. Now its all over the place. Ive...

    bike running terrible

I forgot to mention that I did try the peashooter twice with no change. I haven't tried the shotgun on them yet. And no I did not sync the carbs, I didn't tear them apart, just took the floatbowl covers off and cleaned the needle valves. That shouldn't require re-syncing should it? I don't have...

    bike running terrible

I have a 1997 vmax that I bought last year, it has 23,000 miles on it. I had a little trouble with the carbs shortly after I bought it, but I did the peashooter thing and it seemed to clean it up pretty good. Drove it all last summer, garaged it for the winter and this spring it is giving me...

    Low speed missing/popping

That could work too, ive never had a problem with the propane though. Used it a couple of times on cars. Worst case senario the torch would light, then I would just put it out. Very unlikely though.

    Low speed missing/popping

When I bought the bike the guy said he had just synched the carbs and they didn't need any adjustment. I know im just taking his word for it but when it runs good it runs really good so I don't think the carbs are out of synch. Plus I don't own the tool to do it yet. I will check for intake...

    Low speed missing/popping

Bought some sea foam and put half of it in my tank. Runs way better now. Missing is gone except a slight miss at idle. Im going to run this tank and then run another tank of seafoam. I may also try the peashooter thing. I would pull the carbs except I just bought it and want to ride it, not work...

    Low speed missing/popping

I recently bought a 97 vmax. Just got out friday and drove it to work for the first time. It didn't run very good. At any speeds below 50 MPH when cruising one cylinder is missing and popping. Only when cruising, if I get on the throttle it disappears. Also it doesn't matter what the temperature...

    Riding gear suggestions

Well thanks for all the suggestions; I bought all my stuff today. I went to rocky's in burton and bought everything there. There prices were exactly the same or cheaper than ordering through newenough. I got a Tourmaster flex 2 jacket, some milwaukee boots, a HJC CL-SP helmet, and ordered some...

    Riding gear suggestions

Haha, thats where I live! I also graduated from Flushing high school and currently work at the school in the I.T. department. Small world. The Ice Breaker sounds awesome and I would love to come. But I don't think I will be ready for a 400 mile road trip by then. We will see, thanks for the offer.

    Riding gear suggestions

I agree, thats why im trying to find riding gear that I can stand to wear in warmer weather. I know if I buy some nice leather jacket, I will end up taking it off in the afternoons. I think we allready have enough things we can't control on a bike, like the cars around us. So for the things I...

    Riding gear suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions, I checked out newenough.com and im liking the cordura jackets that have a removable outer shell and removable inner shell. Im thinking im going to go with all textile for now. I may pick up some leather later on as I start to make longer trips. Wish I lived in the...

    Riding gear suggestions

I was looking into the HT pants, found some good reviews on them. How is that jacket in cooler weather? I don't plan to ride in cold weather but want something that will make 50 degree morning commutes bearable.

    Riding gear suggestions

I just bought my first bike, a 97 Vmax. I need to get some riding gear. So far I have just been borrowing my dad's but it is a bit too small and I want my own. I can't decide on what to go with. I would like to have somthing that will work in both cool and hot weather if that is possible. I...

Thanks for the compliments. I think you are right Redbone, I listened to the sound file on marks performance pipes website and it sounds a lot like mine. That exhaust system is $825.00!! looks like I may have gotten a better deal on this bike than I thought. The seat is very comfortable, I would...

Here are some pictures: You can't really tell in the pics but the previous owner had the scoops powder coated silver. The powder coat is failing and rubbing off where your legs hit. I plan to strip off the powder coat and polish them. Can anyone identify this seat or exhaust? I love both...

Hello everyone, I just bought my first Bike ever, a 97 Vmax. A lot of bike for a beginner I know, but I didn't want to spend money on a "beginner bike" only to grow out of it and want somthing better. My dad has had quite a few bikes and has always like the Vmax. After some research I found they...
